CK linked to a story in the SH2 thread that WB had green lit SH3 that was back in October 2011(yeah,that long ago)
I thought i would make a new thread for it,as things will start heating up for it soon,although it seems to still be in the early stages
It seems the script is still being worked on,and they are waiting for RDJ to finish up with Iron Man 3 to get the ball rolling,as IM3 is out this April it should not be long
This link is from 17th December 2012,and that the film is still happening both RDJ and JL are very busy but are enthusiastic about returning

the second film ends in such a way that it could go either way in the third film. Do you envision that characters could return, if you will?
Lin: I don’t want to go into details about that I just want to say that there will be some new locations, new settings for the third movie. Just like Sherlock for the second movie took us in a new location; the third movie will take us to a new location as well.
I've got a strange feeling they are gonna go the way of Basil Rathbone..or at least in that general direction on the compass
