TV Squad's Flash Gordon First Look

I watched the first 2 episodes and have the last one on DVR, but I'm not impressed so far.  After the guy pulled out that horribly done laser whip in the second episode I pretty much tuned the rest of it out.  I'll give it 3 more episodes to get good or it's off my DVR schedule.

I want to like it but I am really having trouble...I mean WHERE is Flash Gordon??  The silly fun, bird men, space battles????

Oh look Dale has to be rude to a guy at a wedding for an entire episode?  That's not fun, that's just boring.  Still watching and hoping though.

It is funny, the Sci Fi Channel can do some really good stuff- that have had some fun shows- Eureka is great, Dresden was way better than Flash, and some of the mini-series were great, Tin Man looks awesome, but sometimes there stuff is obviously just filler.

I have hopes for Flash but I really don't see it moving beyond the level it is at right now.

OK, this is the make it or break it week.  The Hawkmen show up, but from the previews it looks like they are going to butcher them too....

I gave up after the first episode.  I'm enjoying my original Flash Gordon DVDs with Buster Crabbe, the animated Saturday morning cartoon series and the 1980 film.

That's all real Flash Gordon.

Yea, he's a miracle.  Honestly I think it'll be a miracle if this show makes it past 1 season.  So far all of us are looking at eachother asking us why it is still in the TiVo.  If I start running low on space, FLASH  AAAHHHHHH! gets the axe.

I like the show and look forward to the next ep each week but it is not Flash. I dont know why they made it when it seems like they cant afford effects for a real Flash show. This one is always set on Earth or Mongo which is Earth with a filter on the lens. Its really cheap. I wish the sci-fi channel would die or something and stop making all this shit they shove out the door all the time. They take good stuff off and then screw all the old stuff up.

That was just painful to watch. What an embarassment to the Flash Gordon name. I had some hope for this show but the way they ruined the hawkmen I now see this series dying. My god i cant believe they did that.

Anyone else get the sense that instead of hawkmen they were like crowmen or something or maybe blackbirdmen?

Agreed.  The "hawkmen" were an incredible disappointment.  The girl and I have both decided to drop Flash and pick up Torchwood on BBC America.  I think it's got promise, and I can't ignore all the Doctor Who tie-ins.

I'm glad Sci Fi ran commercials for Torchwood.  I had forgotten I even had BBC America mixed in one of the hundred of channels I get.
