Read some pre screening reviews of this on AICN, and I mean man, this looks like it could be effin sweet. I'm always up for movies spoofing on the ridiculousness of hollywood, and while Stiller's track record hasn't been pristine, this seems like its in the vein of a Zoolander (spoofing on a specific industry). Which to me says it's probably going to be hilarious. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0942385/

I just noticed that one of the writers was Etan Cohen, which I figured must be a mistake but I guess that's a real name. That would kind of suck..."No, not Ethan (winner of 4 oscars and numerous other awards), it's ETAN! Aww, fuck Hollywood!"

it's the guy who was behind such classics as 'My Wife is Retarded' and 'Idiocracy'.

I heard idiocracy was good (didn't see it).. Did you see this pic: http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20182058,00.htmlRDJ might be the only actor capable of pulling this off and not getting skewered for it. That picture just made me want to see this even more.

Oh man, I do not abide by blackface or anything like blackface.
Though Soul Man gets a chuckle out of me for being so racist and still so naive about how racist it was all at once.

I mean people are making too much fuss out of the blackface discussion....its satirical. The film is based on a big budget war movie being made...each character is a spoof of certain hollywood types...downey jr. plays the over dedicated method actor (ie. daniel day lewis, notorious for staying in character 24/7 while shooting a movie) the role in the FAKE/spoof movie that his character is supposed to be portraying is written as black in the fake script...so instead having them rewrite the script, he being the overly dedicated actor that he is, he decided to dye his skin to fit the role.
I'm not sure how anyone sees a problem with that.

People that look for racism and are uber sensitive to anything remotely, tangentially "mean" to someone of color can find it in anything. Don't even bother trying to have the satire discussion. It's not allowed. Don't even bring up Eddie Murphy in whiteface as a jew in Coming to America. It's not the same. He was playing a white dude. Don't even try ElijahPrice. You wouldn't understand. You are part of the problem.

I heard idiocracy was good (didn't see it)..
The first 20 minutes are a riot, mainly with the graphs, charts, and the narrator seriously intoning how the human race fell off the cliff of stupid. After that, it has a few laughs here and there but is mainly silly. Ed, you're not black so stop creating oppression where none exists. No race card for you.

Really..
I thought the trailer was excellent. It had a zoolander esque feel to it (i realize that isn't everyones thing, but zoolander was hilarious to me). I agree downey's scenes were excellent, but I thought alot of it looked good. I need a good over the top comedy in my life.

I swear at the 3/4 done spot where Jack Black in bent over saying "What? On the same flight?" that he looks just like Chief from Battlestar Galactica.

Yeah, no. I don't care for Ben Stiller, can barely hack his dad, Jerry. The red band trailer got a smile or two at moments, but nothing to make me want to pay to see it.

Awesome. This'll be on my "to buy" DVD list when it comes out. This is another in the "movies you love that others hate" thing ... I love pretty much anything Ben Stiller. Glad you enjoyed it.

He's in it, it's not a typical role for him though.
Heck, it's not even a Stiller type of movie, if you can understand what I mean by that. It's actually just a plain good movie that satirizes the movie industry.
