(Edit again: I snaked a copy from my cache)

Yeah, and Spielberg is Producing it, along with Bay himself. The movie is going to be HEAVY CGI, but use as much practical machinery as possible.

This one has been in the works for a while, and since DreamWorks was so impressed with the work Bay did for them on The Island, they gave him the keys to The Transformers. Here's where I think he'll be perfect for it:

Nobody captures the romanticism of pure Americana like Michael Bay does. When it was rumored that he might direct Superman Returns, fans went ballistic but missed the point. Superman is the living embodiment of the American dream - that perfection which we all strive to someday become, to be able to make a difference in the world, and to take pride in our lives while respecting what the Founding Fathers sacrificed so that the world would have a refuge where all would be free and protected and encouraged to better one another. Combine that with Bay's talent for coaxing fantastic performances out of any actor he works with save Ben Affleck, and Bay would have been perfect for Superman. But Transformers works just as well. smile

and lemme tell you, destroying poor people homes is COOL SHIT. slywink

Yeah. Uhm, lets look at Pearl Harbor. Here's a movie about massive explosions. You'd think Bay could get that right. Let's take a look at some footage :

<camera cuts to dog barfing up another dogs feces>

I think Affleck was really convincing in that role. And the love story, the heartache, the drama.

This, SPECIFICALLY, is why mankind needs to take the directors bull-horn from Bay and pass it on to another worthy candidate. Like the Olsen twins, or S. Segal.
