If Hayao Miyazaki and some of the other more notables at Studio Ghibli were associate producers, I'd faint!

Couldn't find if it has been posted in this thread already, but the newest trailer showing a bit more storyline is not only available online but it is also on Xbox Live so you can watch it with the volume cranked on your own home theater system. I've done so about 15 times already. I got to to see this same trailer in 3D Imax when we went to see Toy Story 3 in 3D while in Orlando visiting Universal for the Harry Potter Park grand opening. When they showed Flynn's Arcade I may have wet myself.

although that Poster looks great an all,i am worried that it looks like they are gonna sex the Tron world up,which in my opinion being somewhat of a nerd,or at least an inbetweener..the world of Tron is sexy enough..it doesn't need girls(and guys i suppose) being in tight leather looking suits i am still looking forward to this, but i will be disappointed if its another movie with moody teens in it

I guess I don't begrudge them trying to get a younger audience interested to some extent. Most of us who actually saw Tron in theaters in summer 1982 are maybe 37-50 years old now. Marketers don't much care about us anymore. I mentioned this in the "favorite movie year" thread, but 1982 (in retrospect: http://www.imdb.com/year/1982) was a pretty dynamite year for any kind of movie - sci-fi, genre, prestige, anything. I saw E.T., Blade Runner, John Carpenter's The Thing and Tron, and I probably should've seen The Road Warrior (which made its U.S. debut that summer) during my all too brief visit back to Virginia from Korea that summer. I caught Poltergeist and Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan in Korea later. Compare that with this past summer or this year in general. No wonder most people I know would rather huddle with their HD TVs, videogames and computer games.

Hard to believe that was Jeff Bridges, considering the last movie was almost 30 years ago. He for sure looks older, but not 30 years older. That aircraft he had rezing around him was very cool. My only concern around what I'm seeing and reading is that it seems like it will be much more action heavier than the 1st. I'm sure that will be fine for some, but I felt the 1st was about the right balance.

That's because you are looking at the CG version of "evil young Jeff". There is a quick glimpse of actual Jeff Bridges and he shows his age a lot more there.

Disney XD is getting a cartoon in the Tron universe: http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118026910Disney is spinning its upcoming "Tron: Legacy" feature into an animated TV series. Boy-centric cabler Disney XD has given a series order to "Tron: Uprising," which is set for a summer 2012 bow.
Charlie Bean ("Samurai Jack") will exec produce and direct, while "Tron: Legacy" writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz will serve as consulting producers. "Tron: Legacy" co-producer Justin Springer is also on board.
"Tron: Uprising's" voice cast includes Elijah Wood, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Mandy Moore, Paul Reubens, Nate Corddry and Lance Henriksen. Bruce Boxleitner will reprise his role as Tron.
Disney XD had already picked up a 10-part "Tron" microseries, which airs next fall.
Disney TV Animation is behind the show. Disney Channels Worldwide entertainment prexy Gary Marsh called the new show "a culmination of an extraordinary collaboration between Disney Television Animation and our feature film studio."
"Tron: Uprising" will focus on Beck (voiced by Wood), who leads a revolution inside the Grid's computer world. I highlighted the area that makes me feel very confident about the project. If you've seen Samurai Jack, you know what an awesome series it was. If you haven't, you need to catch up. The article is longer than what I posted in the forum.

Disney XD is currently showing the Avengers animated series which, despite the occasional poor writing choice, is pretty good. It's no Batman: The Animated Series, but then I'll admit that I'm much more of a DC fanboy than I am Marvel.
I will definitely be setting the DVR to record anything Tron-related on Disney XD.

Anyone know why it is so hard to find the original movie? You would think that with this around the corner they would have re-released it or something. i can only find $90 versions floating around.... just need a basic DVD or BR version so that my family can see the original before watching this one...

Well, I know I want to see the new one, but if I can't show my family the first one so that they have at least an idea what is going on, I don't think I will see it in the theaters. This just doesn't make sense.... How can they expect people to go see a sequel to a movie if they haven't seen the first one? Maybe for a typical slasher film this might work, but this does have a plot to follow...

If the movie is done well then you don't necessarily have to see the first one. I saw Star Trek 2 before ever seeing the "Space Seed" episode on Star Trek. It wasn't an episode that got aired often in my area. I did keep wondering where Khan had met Kirk before, and wracked my brain trying to remember, but it in no way hampered my enjoyment of the movie.
