normally I'd have little faith in something like this, but look who's attached. then again this might just be another chance for FOX to stomp on our groins...

The name Russel Davies doesn't inspire any hope in me. If it were Moffat, perhaps.

Russell also reinvented "Doctor Who" in 2003 and was writer-creator of the series "Queer as Folk." Aliens and hot chicks swapping spit? I'm in!

I'm just wondering why? It's only mildly successful, and even then uses Dr Who as a crutch, so I wouldn't see this surviving without some kind of Dr Who connection in this version.

Ah, but they are also talking about an American (shudder) Doctor Who.

The article states that Torchwood broke BBC records. Leave it to Fox to rip it out of its context and present it half-heartedly. (Tick, I'm looking at you).

Ah, but they are also talking about an American (shudder) Doctor Who. If it were any network other than Fox, I would be excited. Because it's fox, I am completely underwhelmed. They will either: 1. Stick it on friday night, and cancel it after two episodes. 2. Change the fundamental characteristics of what makes the show great 3. Air the episodes out of order. Most likely, all of the above. Also, consider how bad the american version of Kitchen Nightmares is (compared to the british version).

For the American version, just make Captain Jack a relatively attractive woman and it will do fine. US audiences will go for a sci-fi hawttie that automagically seduces everyone, regardless of their own sexuality. It won't matter how horrible the show is otherwise.

Why the need for an American version? Is it that hard to watch the BBC one?

Poor writing, bad time slot and cancellation. Of course I will watch it. I have little faith but I will see every episode. (doh...what Dragonfrye said )

I like the actor who plays Jack, but only in small doses. He's a stage actor through and through and it shows in his television performances...when he acts, he acts BIG so that folks in the back row can understand what he's doing.

I can hear the Fox executives...
Check this out, we get crazy ironic, turn the show upside down. Captain Jack? Make him Brittish. The rest of the cast is American. Right? Are you with me? It's ironic.

I agree with this. He was amazing on Doctor Who, but as a lead, he can be a little too much.

Yeah but Fox will probably de-gay him (as well as stick him on Friday night at 9)
