2. Ocean's Eleven - 13%
3. True Grit - 12%
4. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - 10%
5. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - 9%

7. The Thomas Crown Affair - 7%
8. 3.10 to Yuma - 6%
9. Karate Kid - 5%

The Dawn of the Dead remake really surprised me. I wanted to hate it with a passion as I'm a big fan of Romero's original take, but when I started hearing rumors that it was pretty dang good, I broke down and caught a matinee. I friggin' loved it (not more than the original, but as a good zombie film in its own right) and have the blu ray that I watch every year at halloween.

Do remakes of TV shows into movies count? Most have been dreck but The Fugitive (1993 best picture nominee) was a great example of using solid TV source material to make an exciting film that's inspired by a TV show but not either parodying it or being too strictly like it. I love Carpenter's The Thing though it's based more on John Campbell's short story source material - which had the concept of anyone being The Thing, not of James Arness as a giant Carrot Head creature. I think it still qualifies. It's just, when people talk about Reboots and Reimaginings, I tend to think of Carpenter's take there.

The Lion In Winter remake didn't surpass the original, but was still pretty good in its own right.
Ditto All Quiet On the Western Front.

Lord of the Rings - technically they were already done once with Bakshi's movie and the animated Return of the King. Clash of the Titans - sorry, I'm a CGI whore. if TV shows are in then I'll add The Fugitive, The A-Team and Speed Racer

Good God that's a craptasitc list - quite sad that people would vote for such lame-ass choices. I'd vote for any of the following over half of what's on that list. Scarface The Thing King Kong The Fly Heaven Can Wait The Man Who Knew Too Much Nosferatu the Vampyre Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Insomnia The Magnificent Seven For a Fistfull of Dollars Invasion of the Boddy Snatchers I means seriously - Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Karate Kid?! And here I was thinkng people in the UK actually knew something about films.

I did not know Dirty Rotten Scoundrels was a remake. It's a remake of the 1964 film Bedtime Story. they should remake it again with more CGI OK that would be weird...very weird.

Heaven Can wait has been done twice has it not?I think Chris Rock did a version(Down To Earth),but i prefer the Warren Beatty version which is a remake of Here Comes Mr Jordan,I loved Heaven Can Wait, really cool film
King Kong has also been remade twice,Jeff Bridges version and Peter Jackson version over the original 1933 version
