I'm guessing that most reviewers who use a scale of 1-100 or some variation instinctively follow the same kind of grading scale that we had in school:  90+ is an A, 80-89 a B, 70-79 a C, 60-69 a D and anything below 59 an F.  Not hard to see why.

I like the 5 star method, less room for interpretation, I used that on my boardgame review website.

1 flat out sucked, 2 was so-so, 3 was average, 4 was really good, 5 was perfect.

I like the 5 star method, too.  Scores, to me, should be a simple indicator of what the reviewer feels like the game merits.  I'm not too fond of like, 8.4, because what is that?  Is it sort of average?  Is it good....merely okay?

The 5 stars tells us EXACTLY how the reviewer feels, and we can dive into the review reading further details.

It's a holdover of trading games on GG of course.  GoneGoldGameTrader.  Its...it's all I have left of that time. Well, that and some GG T-shirts that I still wear.

What about 6 stars?

No, not 6, 7.

7ís the key number here. Think about it. 7-Elevens. 7 doors. 7, man, thatís the number. 7 chipmunks twirliní on a branch, eatiní lots of sunflowers on my uncleís ranch. You know that old childrenís tale from the sea. Itís like youíre dreaminí about Gorgonzola cheese when itís clearly Brie time, baby. Step into my office.

I will have you know that I use the name "sexgirl" on many forums, not just Qt3, and I can assure you that it has a deep and meaningful connection for me.

omfg

I don't pay attention to one thread for 20 minutes and the drama lama's come out... I don't have the time of the patience to re-scroll through this nonsense to point and counterpoint you all, so you luck out there, however Having to read a bunch of people argue on the internet means you all deserve some punishing...

Ron: Stop acting with class in most situations, you make the rest of us look bad...

Tom: I am shocked you stopped by to defend yourself and apologize.  Usually critics do their thing and don't defend it.  Was a nice change of pace.  Although I can safely say I've never read your stuff, I try to avoid reading reviews from random people for the reasons I'll explain below.

You arguing nancyboys:
I'm going to apologize in advance, this is on the fly, no word pad, no thinking it over... So it's a rough James rant.

No two people will ever agree on what they do and don't like in games.  What is your bread and butter, what makes you tick what makes gaming fun for you isn't the same as other people.  Simply put, it's someones opinion, and yes it's going to be slanted to that stuff they like.  For instance... I have played Football since the original madden.  I have played every possible combination of games they have, and as far as I can tell, I get as much fun from drafting people, making trades and building a super bowl champion as I ever have actually playing the games, which is usually boring, tedious and rarely difficult unless the settings are difficult.

This concept of building something from scratch is similar to what makes us all love Civ (Not all, but the vast majority of people concur Civ is one of their favorite franchises)  Building your cities up, researching as fast as possible and having tanks when your neighbor hasn't even hit gunpowder.  However, I dislike flight sims.  They bore me to death, I just cant get into them.  If I wanted to do that sorta thing, I'd probably just bite the bullet and go learn how to really fly... ok no I wouldn't, I got a problem with heights in a non-secure environment, I tend to imagine myself and whatever I am standing on collapsing to our doom.  Bridges, buildings, etc.  If My back isn't up against something I get a bit antsy, so no planes for me.

Would anyone else completely agree with the games I do and don't enjoy playing?  I truly doubt it.  If there is someone else like that out there, I hope they are female so I can marry them and be done with it.  The concept behind places like this is so we can discuss games, and agree to disagree.  It's not for interweb spatting, no matter how much Calvin, ATB and Devil disagree with me on this one (Flame on, lol).  It's all about having fun and finding like-minded people... or I hope it is, maybe I got this whole thing wrong.  Which leads me to the question: "Why would someone be upset with having to put out their real name?"

Now there are arguments... but the key ones are: Internet Security and safety.  You don't want some dweeb stalking you, tracking you down, and hassling you because you said he was a moron for believing there are dolphins in his pond out back.  However that being said, how many times has someone under the guise of anonymity just gone flame on and rat bastard on every and anyone until he was banned.  At least now they don't quite have as much anonymity do they?  It's probably as much to keep asshats out as to make your life difficult.  You might not agree with it, but copping a tude and giving grief makes ya look a little sadder than it should in this case.

I'm positive I missed more from the 30 bajillion (Estimation, not fact) posts up there, but for the love of god, or whomever you happen to believe in, which in my case is Semaj, think before you post.  I know it's a crazy concept, one I should probably follow myself a bit more, but ask yourself: "Will this cause any more stupidity than necessary or normal?"  Because unless your being funny and everyone will get and go along with the joke, you're probably one step closer to ass-hattery.

James out

P.S. The rest of you who were just being funny, I want more skylarking whenever possible or else I will do it myself and I'm less funny than some of you... Or so we will say....

*edited for some god awful spelling mistakes we shall not mention..*

I vote ATB changes his handle to 'mption. Oh, and that Calvin hands "Rage" over to Semaj.

PS. I think CeeKay should be renamed to "Rascally little Ragamuffin" but that might be the wine talking.
