So I haven't had a beer since Sunday. This is a record for me. I'm thinking about stopping and picking up a case on my way home from work. Should I give in on my self imposed wagon? Keep in mind I have no desire to actually stop drinking altogether, it's just that 5 days without a beer is long time for me.
If you vote for me to buy some beer, what beer should I buy? Make it a national brand since my access to micro brews is limited.

How long did you originally tell yourself you would stop drinking for? If you havn't reached that goal, then you shouldn't drink. If you have, then it's up to you. If you never set a goal to begin with, well then you were never really serious anyway so why bother stopping in the first place?

My only real goal has to do with my belly. Summer is approaching and my gut is expanding so I figured that if I didn't have any beer during the week I could trim some serious calories. So I've made it through the week. Also, I don't think they sell Rickard's near me, but that pic does look mighty good.

Wee have Leine's here and that is a great suggestion.

Shiner Bock, while not national, has about 45% coverage and is always my fall back position. I tried a Boston Lager last night and wasn't impressed. I'd drink it if nothing better was available, but it would never be my first choice.

I have 15 gallons of beer on tap in my home. Everyday is a beer day. After all, it's good for your heart and stuff. I plan to drink an Orval while sitting on my porch after work, as it's reached a downright balmy 12 degrees Celsius here today. I'm getting a six pack of molson canadian on my way home today. I'm pretty sure he said "beer".

Let me also quip .... yes indeed, every day is beer day. Remember what Ben Franklin said: Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.
Although that is apparently exactly what he said...ah well, it is what he MEANT today dammit!
Ok so let me add these then:
You cant be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline; It helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer. Frank Zappa
If God had intended us to drink beer, He would have given us stomachs. David Daye
I would kill everyone in this room for a drop of sweet beer. Homer Simpson
24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? Stephen Wright
I think the trend is quite clear. Bah, now I need to stop at Bevmo on the way home...heh.

I drink local and regional beers almost exclusively, so I don't have any good suggestions for you. Spring is the weakest time for seasonals anyway. Lately I've been enjoying Long Trail Ale (amber) and Magic Hat Vinyl. My usual year-round fallback is Harpoon IPA. You probably won't find any of those outside of New England though.

Wow, a +1, haven't had a beer since Sunday, which is the longest it's been for a long, long, time. I had every intention of getting beer today though (especially since it appears I am no longer getting paid but still have to go to work). I am getting back on the wagon Sunday though, just cutting out weekday drinking. I bought some New Belgium's Ranger (an IPA) and some Dales Pale Ale. Having my first beer now, it tastes really weird.

I really like the Sunset Wheat, think I'll have one. I often go months without drinking beer, it's the soda/pop/coke that I can't avoid.
