I found this surprisingly entertaining, and fun to see how close (or far) you can be just judging off a small scene:

My personal rule was that I couldn't move the camera or Google anything like words on signs, but obviously you can make up your own restrictions.

Yeah, if you don't move the camera or Google, this thing is nearly impossible.

I mean, in a single game I got two sections that were 2 lane paved roads with nothing around them.  Could have been ANYWHERE.

An example of how hard it can be without moving the camera:

By not moving the camera I meant not going further along the road one way or another.  Obviously you have to spin it around where you're located to see stuff.  (or not, if you decide not to Tongue)

To me guessing and seeing how close your guess was is half the fun.  If you're just going to start Googling stuff, that just becomes more data mining rather than educated guessing.

And hey, I've had some that ended up halfway around the world from my guess, so it's not like I'm awesome at it.

As for your challenge, you can see signs that are in Spanish, there are some palm trees behind one of the signs but mostly leafy trees, not super affluent but not totally poor and run down, no beach or mountains in sight.  Seems like plenty of things to make an educated guess, at least.  You're not expected to get things exactly.  Tongue

I did pretty well when allowed to move the camera around.  Was pretty fun.  Someone on one of the forums was googling stuff off signs though, that definitely feels like cheating

There are quite a lot of things you can use to deduce where you are - Of course not precisely, but things like climate, terrain, mountains in the distance, car models, vegetation, especially trees are a good indicator of climate, as in subtropical. That said, my experience tells me that most dirt roads are either western Australia or northern America, so either of those are a good guess ;-)

I agree with Engine that I have tons of fun playing detective on those hard to guess areas!

had an insanely easy run.  first one had a sign on a store advertising 'Made in Alaska' gifts, second one had one that advertised a website ending in .br, third was flat and snowy with a store that had the American flag, fourth reminded me of a scene from Crocodile Dundee but the fifth got me as I guessed Northwest US and it was actually France.
