That's a pretty freaky situation and not really funny. The guy broke his wrist and was pretty much in shock mere moments after the clip above, expecting to find his dog dead and mutilated when he got back to the bottom of the elevator. Luckily, at least the dog was unscathed. Confused, but unscathed.

Unless the guy is blind he deserved this gentle reminder to always know where your dog is when your around potentially dangerous machinery. WTF was he thinking?

I didn't realize the thread was only for things that are funny? It's certainly notable.

Dude, the thread title is "This is Fun" not "This is Notable." I can imagine things that are fun aren't necessarily funny, but I can't imagine potentially losing one's dog is fun.

Hey, I know this is the internet where everybody loves to come off as morally superior to complete strangers but while you are feeling so awesome about what a wonderful person you are and totally above posting something as horrible as that gif keep the following in mind:
1. The owner does not appear to be significantly harmed in any way other than possibly suffering a sprained wrist and/or bump to the head. 2. The dog is clearly shown to be OK and capable of walking after the incident.
If the results had been different (say like the dog being sheared in two) or the outcome left to be far more ambiguous (such as the dog shown rising up the door and the clip ending before showing the dog to be OK) then I would not have posted it.
To me it's more about how an owners moment of inattentiveness caused what very nearly might have been a tragedy but in the end we can breath a sigh of relief that the neither the dog nor the owner were seriously injured (that we can tell though the evidence supports it).
But as long as you are comfortable up there on the high horse I'm cool with that too.

You're right, the posting of an animated gif wherein a dog is nearly injured but thankfully is not is EXACTLY the moral equivalent to raising dogs to be fight and die in a pit.
Good on you.

My post was intended to expand upon what was being shown in that GIF. The guy didn't sprain his wrist btw. As I said, he broke it and suffered a real shock as well when he didn't know what had happened to the dog. I don't find the animation particularly fun or funny, but it's at least fascinating and turned out reasonably well for everyone. I'm not sure if it's appropriate for this thread, but I'm not going to go there. Others have clearly shown what they think of my previous attempts at getting rid of pics that looked much worse than what you posted.

Is there a link that can verify that the owner did, in fact, break his wrist?
If that is the case then I can truly feel sorry for the injury he received. However, my main point remains that, to me at least, the primary reaction to the events is one of, thank goodness the dog wasn't injured in an event that could have gone so very very badly.
The owner suffers a minor injury (even if a broken wrist it's still relatively minor) and the dog goes through an incredible sequence of events and comes out, by all appearances, unscathed. THAT is the incredible part to me. The gif isn't meant to be fun or funny but rather shows something amazing that turns out much better than expected.
Like you say, others have posted far worse where serious injuries appeared likely. But again, this is the internet and people like to compare an incredible event that despite the possible horrible outcome results in a (relatively) positive result with something as horrifying as specifically breeding dogs to be torn apart in a fighting pit.

Is there a link that can verify that the owner did, in fact, break his wrist? I read my news in Norwegian, so you're going to have to rely on your Google-Fu for this one.

I'll trust you on that aspect then.
So, I'm sorry that the owner received a broken wrist. That still doesn't change the fact that his dog survived an incredible event which to me is the good and amazing part of what we see in that gif.

In case you were wondering where to live in the Phoenix area.
The one labeled Poor White People, Old Houses is wrong. That is Middle-Class White People with Old Houses and Newer Fill-in. Although I will pretty much agree with the rest
