Ya 90's.

You didn't do that in the early 90s either.

I started making web pages in 1994/95
90 - early 90s
91 - early 90s
92 - early 90s
93 - zone of early/mid ambiguity
94 - mid 90s
95 - mid 90s
96 - mid 90s
97 - zone of mid/late ambiguity
98 - late 90s
99 - late 90s
00 - no longer the 90s

Also, the very first version of Microsoft Frontpage was released in '95, which removes any chance this was "early 90s". slywink

Obviously WW is meant to be funny but is the previous pic serious or are they making fun of WW or something previous? If they are serious, why those songs? I only play rock band so I don't know a thing about guitar or real music.

Firstly, TTIWWP.

Secondly, Frontpage 1.0 was released by the company Vermeer in 1995. MS Frontpage 1.1 was the first MS release of frontpage which was in 1996.

It likely is serious, and it also has to do with it requiring skill to play, and how many times a day would the employees hear different people playing the same damned riffs?

Those riffs are some of the first ones that guitarists try and learn, especially smoke on the water and the opening to stairway to heaven. If you go to a music store you can almost always hear someone playing one of those riffs at some point.

Yes, I was one of those guys when I was back in college.

walk into Guitar Center and you'll see why it's probably serious...full of guys playing the merchandise and trying to show off by playing difficult but popular riffs.  i can imagine it would get a little old hearing that stuff all day, especially when it's being played by people who probably don't do it that well.

I'd probably add "Enter Sandman" and "Come As You Are" to that list.  Certainly heard all five of those ad nauseum when I worked at a music store in the early 90s (i.e. before FrontPage).

I can still walk into a music store these days and still find some kid playing one of those - badly.  Though my current band added Smoke on the Water to the setlist, so I can't talk too much smile (At least they didn't go for my idea to do Freebird in it's entirety)
