This guy was incredibly cool under pressure.  He jets out of the cockpit just as flames are about to engulf him.  I doubt he could have timed it any closer.... amazing vid

Damn, that's hard to watch.  I had a very good friend of mine that was a USAF fighter pilot die in a similar accident.  He noticed something wrong immediately on takeoff and was able to eject, but floated right back down into the burning wreckage.  Burns over 90% of his body.  He actually lived for nearly 2 months in a burn unit before an infection required a leg amputation and his body just wasn't strong enough to recover from it.  Haven't thought about Brice in far too long...this was quite the reminder.

Damn glad that guy made it out though.

i am amazed the ordinance didn't cook off.  imagine the firefighters going into that scene with a potential explosion to deal with.

that pilot is a testament to how well these pilots are trained.

Just epic. First angle I've seen that shows Fedor throwing the punch before Arlovski was in the air.

Great reaction time bye Big John too.

Bring on Werdum!

It's too bad Fedor is dodging the UFC. He'll keep fighting wash ups and never have beens for the rest of his career.

So sorry to hear about your friend, Gratch.  While ejection seats have saved tons of lives, they're still a dangerous option in and of themselves.  My father has been a military aircraft maintainer for 44 years and has some memories that are no doubt very haunting about what he's seen and been through.  I'm always awed and honored when he and other members of the military are willing and able to share the stories of those brave men with me.

True.  I mean he's only fought top 10 fighters in each of his last three fights...and will again this summer in werdum.  Oh and then overeem, who is also top ten.  Truly that is inferior competition to the ufc...

Interesting. Something on this page caused both Chrome and Safari to crap out multiple times on my iMac at work. I assume it's the UFC animated .gif. Opera, on the other hand, seems to have no problem with it.

The middle one is the original optical illusion (meant to be by itself) and can look like it's spinning either way.  The outer two have those lines to force one perspective or the other.
