Yeah, not liking that one bit.
I'm trying to understand this. - You don't like yawning.
- You feel the Country of Negros should change its name to "African American".
- Amish volleyball is fine, but the use of buggies as the net posts offends.*
- Adding the human side to "rebels" aka terrorists/guerrilla fighters bothers you - even though those storm troopers are just doing their job.
- Comparing the overpowered foreign powers that failed to achieve dominance in fiction to reality is bothersome.
*Sacrilege!

I find that picture to be in very poor taste. If the execution had been different, I don't think too many of us would have minded a new creation that is evocative of a war memorial, but using the Vietnam Veterans Memorial as a parallel shows a remarkable lack of respect to the people whose names are on that wall and to all the others that came home.
Alas, I also believe in the Bill of Rights. The author certainly has a right to create something like this, but we don't have to like it.

That's fucking horrible.
Or its brilliant in a thought-provoking manner, much like a Modest Proposal. From my perspective, it attacks a western culture that has widely adopted a group of fictitious people (rebel alliance) as heroes VS the thought that their own institution (and their accrued losses) faced a loosely parallel group. Hell, perhaps I should start an R&P topic about it, since it is discussion-worthy.

Maybe R&P would be a better place, but you'll likely not get much objectivity out of me about it since we have a large painting of the original hanging in the American Legion that I'm a member of.

I used to work at the American Legion HQ, I'm a vet and have family members who were there. I still thought it was part humorous and part deep and not entirely misplaced in the notion. I don't really go to R&P, so I won't be joining any further discussion about it most likely. Being a patriot doesn't mean you have to be blind though.

Spar, here you go.
I wasn't sure what I was supposed to look for. Was it the obvious thing with the buggies being used as net posts? Was it the balloons? Was it the silhouette in the trees that looked like Britney Spears getting bent over by a poodle?

Second of all, I think it's the fact that there is a digital pictures of the Amish. I was under the impression that digital recordings of them was like trying to watch a vampire via a mirror.

ORLY?Most Mennonites that I know don't dress like that, even in their rural communities - they certainly don't have buggies. I'm a Mennonite descendant through my mothers side; I'm fluent in German (or at least, capable enough to communicate my ideas), and in the past hundred years my family has lived on four continents and in countless countries on the run from persecution. I don't follow the faith, but I'm pretty familiar with it's people. The Hutterites or Brethren may be possible; I'm not familiar with their ways of life (although I know Hutterites drive cars without radios, and own computers without sound cards). Amish DO have neighborhood telephones ... perhaps that's what the post is?

There is a pretty large community of Mennonites near where I live that do use some technology, such as electricity, however they still drive horse and buggies. However none of the Amish around here were any sort of colored clothing. I am sure there are regional variances.

I have no idea how this topic got started..but i'll add......Theres some Mennonites the next county over that sells all kinds of bread and veggies. We went to get some tomato bread but they were closed that day. Going again soon though. Anyways when we went they were out in the fields in horse drawn wagons and what looked like a buggy..guess it was the sports car. They looked Amish to me...big flat brimmed hats and long sleeved shirts. Our cousin who goes a lot said they were those hot long sleeved clothes year round...and no deodorant ...so they get ripe in the summer
