They are two different people. Perhaps the one on the right has more bone density because she drinks milk. It does the body good.

Well I just, you know, assumed all canadian women were fat because it's always, you know, icy there and they need to stay warm.

the picture may look a little odd, but it's really only because the image is slicing through a plane that only catches a thin sliver of the bones in the lower leg.  it's the same reason that you don't see much bone in the upper arms of either picture...just cut through the body in the wrong place to catch anything other than soft tissue.

as for the weight/bone density issue, an obese person will theoretically develop stronger bones to support to the weight, but this is also dependent on a lot of other factors and won't always be the case.  the increased density and strength aren't necessarily things that will be directly visible when looking at the size of a bone either...big doesn't mean strong.  you could have very strong, dense small bones or large bones that lack strength as a result of poor calcium deposition.  the grossly visible size of a bone really doesn't tell you that much about its strength.
