Notice that the name of this thread is "This Is Fun" not "This is funny." There has certainly been entertainment trying to figure out what that damn cartoon was supposed to mean. Alright....after thinking about it, I think the twig is a metaphor for the futility the bird feels for his nest in lieu of man's encroachment on nature.
The man represents the indifference the world has shown to the plight of Planet Earth. The last panel shows the anger the wildlife around feels, but cannot convey.
