It's probably a 6 or 7 lb ball.

Edit: Actually, by the way it sails, I'd bet it's even less.

My guess is that it's some sort of construction material discoloring the water or aliens. Either one is probable.

Dear Miss Swaim,

I am taking your suggestion regarding Charlotte Braun & I will eventually discard her.  If she appears anymore it will be in strips that were already completed before I got your letter or because someone wrote in saying that they like her.  Remember, however, that you and your friends will have the death of an innocent child on your conscience.  Are you prepared to accept such responsibility?
Thanks for writing and I hope that future releases will please you.

Sincerely,

Charles M Schulz

With drawing of Charlotte getting "the Ax."

I once wrote a letter to Charles Schulz (in fact, the only time I've ever written an author) to thank him for his strip and to let him know how much I'd enjoyed it through the years.  He sent me a very nice letter back along with two autographed drawings.   One was autographed with his name and the other was autographed with Snoopy's paw print.

I still have them.

Here's some info on the short lived Charlotte Braun
