It's like GM is trying to turn them into Pontiacs.

um that was pretty impressive driving. Those Cadillac's have Corvette engines in them now don't they? Almost made them interesting enough to buy.

One of the drivers looked a lot like Mark Martin, but I couldn't be sure.
Not that they probably don't use Corvette tech in some way, but the engines are based on the Northstar plants I believe. They use superchargers to beef up the Torque/HP output as well.
The "V" series has been around for a few years now.

It's like GM is trying to turn them into Pontiacs.
Who the what now? Praise for the CTS and a couple of other Cadillac models is pretty common among a large percentage of the automotive press. Even one of the brits on Top Gear fell in love with the CTS-V when he drove it. It's an excellent car. And yes, that V8 is a versatile, powerful, monster of an engine. I believe the top of the line model runs in the 560 horsepower range. Not that they probably don't use Corvette tech in some way, but the engines are based on the Northstar plants I believe. This is wrong. If you buy the CTS with a V8 in it, you've got the LS2 V8 from the Corvette. If you go with one of the more base models they're all V6's. I'm pretty sure the Northstar V8 is dead as far as the CTS is concerned. It only sees use in the much larger STS Sedan and the SRX. Oh, and they use it in the Buick Lucerne.

The XLR-V uses the Northstar V8.

You are correct. The XLR-V uses the Northstar V8. Well, it did. I didn't mention the XLR because it's dead. The '09's are the last.

The CTS-V is an incredible machine. It has performance that rivals and outpaces an M5 for far less money. I was seriously debating getting the CTS-V coupe when it comes out in a couple months, although I think I've mentally settled on the regular version... if I get anything at all. (The tax man cometh for my capital gains ).

That's why you lease. When the warranty is about up, you give it back.

And I've never seen Consumer Reports to be reliable for anything. Period. I find there testing methods suspect for many things, and I do not feel they have enough expertise to really be good judges. Not saying that the Cadillacs are reliable long term, but I don't trust CS for that information.

One particular area I find myself always disagreeing with Consumer Reports is their actual driving tests. They make claims about a car's handling and overall mechanical quality that are just flat wrong at times.

is there a name to the song being played in the background, or is it just some drum piece they through together? I'd love to get that on my iPhone to play whenever I feel the need for drum accompaniment, * CeeKay starts opening the coffee can, the drums kick in.
