-  For the last month or so, the guy I have been working out with never shows up on time.  We're supposed to start at 6:30.  Some days he's there at 6:30, some days at 7:00, other days (like today) he doesn't show up at all.  I'm about ready to just give up on him and start doing it all myself.

-  The shuffle option on my MP3 player always manages to "randomly" play 5-6 songs off the same album (out of about 30 albums) every time I use it.  It'll mix in a few others so I know it's on random, but I'll almost always hear multiple songs from one album when there's a ton of other ones on the player.

-  My kitty is sick and the vet has no idea what's wrong with him.  He's eating fine, but refuses to drink anything.  We'll probably have to take him in for an overnight hospital stay tomorrow, which is the second one in a month (at $200 a pop).  frown

So, what's annoying you today?

there's this guy named Gratch who posts on the tubes.  I hear there's an anti-Gratch fanclub forming though, including his 14 year old niece who apparently is a large bald african male.

Every day I exit my subway station I climb this long, long stairway along with umpteen million other people.  At the top you need to make a right turn.

Every day, without fail, 90% of the people ascending in the left lane cut across the last rail opening to the right lane 10 steps before the right turn because it looks like a shortcut.  Never mind that the fraction of a second they might save with this infinitesimally shorter path is undoubtedly negated by the time it takes to maneuver through an extra turn in their path.  And more annoyingly, never mind the hundred people already in the right lane who have to slow down because you cut them off, and the hundreds of people in general behind you that are slowed down because you've given a two lane staircase a one lane bottleneck at the end.

Oh, but these offenders don't get by scot-free.  Oh no.  I give the back of their heads a nasty grimace the likes of which could raise the hair on some sort of small hamster.

The George Orwell 1984 Guide to Corporate Management

And constantly being reminded that "they are watching."  We seriously pay someone to monitor internet usage?

We have an emergency meeting in 10 minutes to discuss a rogue employee's "illegal" internet music streaming.  First offense has been reported to the corporate president.  2nd offense receives an immediate $5000 fine to our branch.

That sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen.  On the other hand, when documented I could see the 2nd offense earning unpaid time off or worse.  There are acceptable and unacceptable abuses of company property (of which the Internet is one the computer is another).  If we accused of streaming music (which is actually a no no here.  No youtube.  No Internet radio, etc...) then you'd get warned once, have your Internet turned off the second time, and then I'd think if you worked around the Internet suspension you'd go straight to getting canned.

What the hell is a "teradactal"?

Are you trying to spell "pterodactyl"?

I'm not usually a stickler for spelling, but that is particularly lame.

Ah, another opportunity for spiritual growth!

I was counting on Google to have its "Did you mean: pterodactyl?" message if I was wrong

and

the fact that the entire first page of Search hits had websites all using the same spelling as my search word made me go with the original spelling.

My point being, Ike, I am very conscientious of my spelling. Between the internal Firefox spell check, this Forum's spell check, dictionary.com, Google and copying my text into Outlook to run spell check I try and at least have my spelling correct even if no one cares about the content. I don't see what is particularly lame about a single misspelled word.

Referring to pterosaurs as "pterodactyls".  That's like calling an apatosaurus a brontosaurus.

Next would be to call pterosaurs and plesiosaurs "dinosaurs."  Fabulous

Things that annoy me:

People who stick a BMP file in an e-mail without an explanation.
People who stick six BMP files in an e-mail when the BMP files show a screenshot of text.

Both of those are in my work e-mail this morning.
