The Walking Dead tap dances onto AMC for Season 4

with Frank Darabont leading the parade.  I've always paged through this series at the old comic book store but never got around to picking it up, luckily the collections are fairly cheap.

Great news.  A Walking Dead HBO series has long been talked of as a dream adaptation (the comics would fit perfectly as a TV series) and AMC is the next best thing, though I'm a little worried about the need to make cuts for content.  You can get away with some pretty extreme material on basic cable these days but I think a full on zombie tale is a bit beyond that.

I have Book 1 of the series (#1-#12) which I thought was pretty good - although a little annoyed at the quality of the drawings got worse later in the book. Whats the verdict of the rest of the books? I'm reading on Amazon that the plot starts crapping out. Given the price of the books I've been hesitant to purchase more. Any opinions on the rest of the series?

I'll watch. I've read and enjoyed the series on and off. Along with 30 Days of Night and Y The Last Man and others, it's well worth looking for.

It's a darker series but definitely entertaining and keeps you on your toes. Worth finding the tpbs.

I totally missed it before in that article about them greenlighting the series, but I just heard in the local comic book shop that the first season is only going to be 6 episodes!

I'm pretty excited about this.   There's some concept art for the show that looks great. 

It's easy to ID the characters from the comic by looking at it,  and some of the other pics give me hope that they'll be following the comic's storyline very closely.     

Another plus is that Frank Darabont is going to be directing.  I really loved what he did with The Mist.   So there may be only six episodes, but I'd rather get six great episodes than a dozen mediocre ones with half of them being filler.

After the first book (not sure what issues that covers) the story became stuff we've already seen or read before in other zombie books/movies. The books have a good cast but not sure the writer knew exactly what to do with them except kill them off, drive them insane, or maim them.

I'M DOWN FOR THIS!!!..whoops I screamed. Ok I love this stuff...sue me. I even have the wife lined up to watch with me. We are big zombie fans. One of our favorite movies is Return of the Living Dead after all. This looks great. 6 eps for season one seems slim but I'll take what i can get. The intro of that video where he is in the hospital looks so 28 Days though.

Zombies don't read!  Strolling is what two young lovers do as they hold hands and meander around a lake.  Saunter is what zombies do when they are hungry for brains.  Stop trying to wussify zombies.  You will only anger them and cause them to lurch after you!  Babies, dogs, girlfriends, and old people (not undead old, just old) can all be taken for a stroll.  I dare you to try and take a zombie on a stroll.  


edit:  Ok the gentleman zombie above might take his girl for a stroll.  But it would only be to get in her pants..... or her head.  Not sure which.

Well, now you're just making rules up as you go.  First you can't stroll with a zombie, but clearly I've provided an example.  Along with a few extra such as dancing and lawn care.  Yet now you cannot manipulate zombies into doing such deeds.   

Actually, despite not having seen Fido yet, I am fairly certain that the control device is necessary for a docile zombie pet and polite strolling.  I believe something inevitably goes wrong with the boy's zombie control device and hilarity then ensues.  The kind involving unsanctioned snacking on neighborhood residents.
