I can relate. Following neck surgery my wife and friends called my brace the "cone of shame" as well. I'm pretty sure it was mainly to keep me from licking my stitches.

Not unless you were able to lick your own balls prior to wearing yours. It's the one thing Man's Best Friend has over Man so taking that away so the other dogs can snicker, well I'd hang my head in shame as well.

While that is quite a benefit, having been able to tilt my head back to enjoy a frosty cold one, my own "cone of shame" negated that ability for almost two weeks. <<shudder>>Those were dark times.

My poor bunny ripped his stitches out after he was neutered. This earned him the Cone Of Shame!

Reminds me of the time I took our family dog for a walk in a light rain. She got about halfway around the route, and stopped cold. Would not move, just stood there. I had to pick her up and carry her back. Luckily, she was only a spaniel.

I had that happen with a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel I had once, but that was in snow. She wouldn't keep walking after a while, and I had to carry her. I think she was just getting too cold.
