I think it's a testament to the utter arrogance of the defunct GG moderators and their brain-drained ilk to start up a GG-clone site without posting on or even recognizing the CG community.

Even more laughable is the contrast between CG's and BS's (wow, appropriate acronym) take on 'recruiting' lost GGers:  While CG has several threads about directing anyone and everyone here, (msduncan's Watchfires thread being the most recent), BS has a "Brutesquad Invites" thread where they discuss, more or less, who deserves to be 'invited' onto their forums.

Registration is still wide open on both forums--but there's a big difference in the tone of the two, no?  The very existence of BS and the utterly elitist tone the place has about it smacks of the highschool-drama-queen syndrome that drove GG into its grave.  As usual, the (former) GG moderation team took the cowards' way out--apparently they won't play unless it's by their rules.

Don't be foolish enough to think that Brutesquad is a resurrected Gone Gold.  It's an elitist, ego-mastubatory power trip on the part of the ex-mods.

I'd say I was disappointed in them, but honestly, I expected nothing better.

Funny, my take would be that you are keeping that alive and well right here.

Your interpretation of reality is off kilter, and as usual, I can sit here and watch you bury yourself 1 word at a time.

Enjoy your stay.  I'm sure it will be shorter than the rest of ours.  I expect nothing less from you though.

Meh.  I visit both boards and they both have merit to them.  It would be nice if there was only one, of course, but I'm not complaining.

Oh, and btw, what you are saying about the "Invite" thread is pretty much a load of manure.

This is a quote from the threadstarter:

"If you can think of someone who hasn't been seen since the shutdown (and who wasn't already banned pre-shutdown), post their screenname here, and people can try to track them down to get out the new address. "

That doesn't seem particularly exclusionary to me. Oh, but then, I can understand your point.....m'LORD

Them be fightin' words.

Seriously though, I'm glad you're enjoying the broken community.  I personally thought the BS-elites would show some class in at very least discussing their choice to splinter off on this forum, but instead they snubbed CG, only called the 'cool' kids, and made a different set of forums.

That smacks of some immature decision-making.  But my opinions are obviously null and void anyway because AHardPlace took the time to flame me.

Does anyone know why that forum was created when CG was so accomodating to everyone?  I missed the last few days on the forum.

Please tell me you see the difference between the forums, though.  One has posters proposing threads in other gaming forums to usher in old members.  One has a single thread terming their recruitment as "invites."

There's a difference, there.  One is welcoming everyone who knew Gone Gold.  The other is welcoming a very select few.

Let's simmer down a bit...no need for hateful words to be flung about.  The users will decide where they want to go and, in my mind, neither forum should be pimping on the other forum, but that's just me.

Anyway, let's keep this civil or I'll have to close this.

Dude seriously, are you having flashbacks to schoolyard dodgeball where you were picked last all the time or what?

You're trying to create an issue where none exists.  Plus, it's a transparent attempt to get others to join you in hating the people who kicked you out the first time.

Have some class.  CG seems to be a nice place and they're letting you stay, so what not be happy about it?

mainly because of lack of R&P.  Other than that, both forums are practically the same

From BS's "So why here instead of Console Gold?" thread:

Quote from: "ImLawBoy"
It's not like we were at an impasse or anything. CG was existing, was doing its thing, and was doing it well. We respect that thing, but it's not what we wanted to do. As the old GG Forum staff talked in the aftermath of the collapse, we got some crazy ideas into our heads about what we would like to do with our own site that we never really had the opportunity to do at Gone Gold. I think it would have been pretty presumptuous of us to ask the CG folks to essentially give us the keys to their site, but asking to become a subservient part of his site wasn't really palatable to us, either (we'd already had experience working on someone else's site without any substantive control).

Since when was GG yours, LawBoy & Crew?  I was pretty sure it was Rich's.

Wait, I am sure it was Rich's.  That's why you and your cronies didn't get wind of the site closure, like you admit you didn't.

Delusions ahoy!

Quote from: "The Meal"
They way I see it, Console Gold has a site. We have an idea. They've shown they can create content. We've shown that we can moderate a forum (at varying levels of acceptance). They're established. We're rebuilding out of rubble. They operate under the vision of one person -- the guy paying the bills. We've got a committee of folks that is basically taking ideas thrown at us and deciding what we want to handle, what we can handle, and how to best put it all together. They're a community. We're a community. There's a huge overlap in those two communities.

...

Why here? Because this is where you want to be.

An ignorant intro with an outro best read as "OBEY."  Yahoo.

Hey, they didn't even name any of the Ravens in their "invite" thread! *spit* spineless scurvies!

Seriously though, take a chill pill, LE. I, too, have questioned their ulterior motives in the other thread, but to tell you the truth, there's not much we can do about it. I don't grudge the BS'ers for going to BS. I'm just not going to go over there and post there. That's my choice, and there's damn they can do about it.

"I may disagree with what you say, but I will fight to the death your right to say it" (phrased) whoever said this is a wise one.

You are absolutely right, AgtFox.  I apologize for letting the young lad get to me.  You have certainly all been welcoming and accommodating, and I'm sure we are all appreciative.  I just felt that this was very harsh against people who have given much of their personal time to a site they loved at least as much as most of you did.

I'm closing this before it goes any farther.  If people want to create another civilized thread on this subject, feel free.
