Safety Not Guaranteed was pretty good. I seem to enjoy the Duplass brothers, so i'll be keeping an eye out for other stuff by them.
Yeah, I enjoyed Safety Not Guaranteed quite a bit as well. Just watched this last night. Thumbs up from me, too. Really good.

just watched Get the Gringo, which was a nice return to form for Mel Gibson. like mentioned before, it was kinda like Payback in Mexico, but it felt different enough to be fresh.
I've been curious about that one. I enjoyed Payback for what it was, and wondered if this was a comparable style of film. Perhaps I'll give it a try. I'll go against the grain and say that I didn't really enjoy Get the Gringo much at all, and I had enjoyed Payback.

Watched Rec 3. Terrible. They basically tried to turn the movie in to a Resident Evil type film where it didn't take itself seriously. And the rabies stuff is in there but they changed it to be more supernatural than biological. They do the shakey cam thing for the first 30-40 minutes of the film then moved to traditonal film. Still not worth watching. But I did rate it 2 stars since I sat through the entire thing.

On April 19th, Netflix will release 13 episodes of Hemlock Grove. A young girl is brutally murdered and found near the former Godfrey steel mill. As rumors mount, two of the suspects in her killing—Peter Rumancek, a 17-year-old Gypsy trailer trash kid rumored to be a werewolf, and Roman, the heir to the Godfrey estate—decide to find the killer themselves. Almost through the entire season of House of Cards and I've decided I don't like it- with two eps left. Spacey is his typical great self (but there's just too much of him). All of the characters are grade A scumbags and I pretty much don't like any of them. Thus there's no one to root for and I wish the whole lot of them ill- so it's an accurate portrayal of the Hill I'd say. That said, I could get through that, but I just finished episode 11 and it has totally stretched the bounds of plausibility. Major Spoiler late season spoiler Overall, I'm giving it 3 stars. That's in the I'll give season two a try, but probably won't make it the whole way category. I felt the same way about Sopranos. All thugs, and the world would be better off without them if the vacuum was filled. About that spoiler: Yeah, that makes sense, I literally have no interest in finishing the season at this time. I got 90 seconds into the next ep and was like, I don't even want to watch this anymore. Just watched the 12th episode and I'm still liking it. Give it another try.

Guns, Girls and Gambling was a delightfully off the wall film: This story throws Elvis impersonators, Native Americans, a cowboy, a drop dead beautiful blond assassin, a frat boy, two corrupt sheriffs, the girl next door and a prostitute into a chase for a million dollar Native American artifact stolen during a poker game at a casino.

Would also recommend Once Upon a Time. I though the first couple episodes were a bit weak but it picked up fast after that. My only real complaint beyond that is I wish they had a slightly larger budget. Anytime they try to go too epic the special effects can’t quite pull it off.

Yup, also really enjoyed Once Upon a Time. As mentioned the budget sucks where the special effects and costumes are so crappy. But the writing is surprisingly good and you keep on wanting to guess which person is which fairy tale character. It's got a bit of Lost in there with the flash backs and as it goes along the budget does improve some where things don't look as cheap as they did in the initial episodes.
The episode that tells the origin of Grumpy dwarf is just too much fun too.
Looking forward to when the second season appears on Netflix.

...and commenting again, the final episode of justice league unlimited is one of the best superhero episodes ever made. And the speech superman gives darkseid is one I'll always remember. God I miss these shows. I only wish they'd kept the equally excellent young justice on the air.

I didn't notice SG (or Darkplace ), but a lot went up (including Children's Hospital). Also, I have to second Venture Bros. as one of the best things Cartoon Network has ever put on. And that it stands in the pantheon of comedy without even mentioning the animation side of it. But maybe we built it up too much? It may be that I'm not remembering it as a slow build. One of the best thing about it are the recurring characters that you know well enough to enjoy when they react to a given situation just as you'd expect, but the show is well written enough that they often surprise you. Also it helps if you've seen Johnny Quest (also not available).

I'm guessing that since Garth Marenghi's Darkplace was most likely a BBC production and Adult Swim just purchased the rights to broadcast the show, they probably don't have the rights to include it in any of their netflix licensing deals. Hopefully netflix gets enough requests to get the rights though (they have numerous other BBC shows) as it truly is another great, great comedy.

That may be part of the problem. I vaguely remember Johnny Quest, but was never really a fan. Hence, some of the humor may be lost on me. It's odd though, as I can totally see the setup for funny stuff in there, it just doesn't really seem to deliver. I'll give it another couple episodes before writing it off...maybe I was just in a bad mood last night.

It's only truely funny once you understand all the characters. I wasn't exposed to them until the 2nd season was out on DVD and I watched the first two seasons in one weekend. Now that the next season (5 I believe) is due to start soon, it is a good time to do some catching up. Knowing Johnny Quest might help a little, but once they are rolling they play to a wider audience.

It's only like Seinfeld in the sense that the comedy comes from knowing the characters, though. And also, the Johnny Quest thing is just a framework and helps for the first couple of shows, which is where you are. It's not a major necessity as TEW said.

Not just J Quest. They lampoon and pay homage to numerous comic book, television and literary characters and events. The show can be whip smart at times.

dang, hit Streaming Soon to see what was coming up and found this: Netflix has decided to make changes to its Application Programming Interface (API). These changes include eliminating the database (called the OData catalog) that Streaming Soon uses to inform you of new and upcoming content on Netflix. You can read more about it here. Sadly, this means the end of the line for Streaming Soon, unless Netflix reactivates this database. If you would like to send an e-mail to Netflix about this, please direct it to [email protected]Thank you for your support over the years. It has been a pleasure enhancing your Netflix experience. Sincerely, Andrew K. admin, Streaming Soon looks like Feedfliks is still somewhat active, but who knows how long that will last.

Yeah I've noticed Feedflix has gotten less accurate in the last few months. I hardly go there anymore. I fllick through the new releases page on Netflix now which sucks. I just want a page that shows new and upcoming movies with a brief description.

Watched the first two episodes of Hemlock Grove. Not too sure about this one. It starts off fine then gets pretty confusing quickly. There's the main storyline of "who's the werewolf?" but that story is side lined by all these other story threads and characters that are introduced and not fleshed out at all. You spend your time figuring out how all these things tie together and its not fun as you're given very little to work with.
Like there's this nerdy girl that has an interest with the new kid in town. But then that ends quick and the next time you see her is getting ready for a school dance, she hooks up briefly with some guy there, and then that's it. I'm not sure what the whole point of that was. There's a bunch of those loose threads that play out every 10 minutes or so.
The acting is pretty awful for almost everyone. Thankfully the best actors are the two main characters, the rich kid and the gypsy kid. Everyone else basically seems like they're coming from a Soap Opera.
So this isn't an immediate must watch. I'll probably finish out the season but am disappointed in it so far.

Hemlock Grove has one great thing going for it: Famke Janssen doing what may be one of the worst English accents ever attempted on television. She truly believes that adding syllables to words makes them sound like they're being spoken by someone from England. It's pretty damn hilarious. I forget what word she used in an episode I watched last night, but she stretched it out to three syllables from what should have been one.

Hemlock Grove is a CW teen series with bad language and T and A. Why do all the High School kids look like they are in their late 20's?

I fllick through the new releases page on Netflix now which sucks. I just want a page that shows new and upcoming movies with a brief description.
they don't seem to update it at all. Looks like InstantWatcher may still be operating somehow.
