The whole premise of this movie is just ridiculous and yet I had to watch it. As much as I expected to be grossed out, I really wasn't with the exception of a few scenes. For the most part you don't really see much.
I met Ashley Williams (middle girl) at a con in September and she was really nice. She looked great and didn't bat an eye when I made a "this coffee tastes like shit" joke about the stuff the hotel had in the lobby.

The Girl Who Played with Fire is up on IW. It is the sequel to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and features the same two lead actors.
Swedish with sub-titles - just to warn those away who cannot stand sub-titles or do not speak Swedish.
Wasn't as taken by the second film as I was the first. It seemed like they were trying to make it a james bond style film complete with a villinous henchman. I got lost during some of the plot lines but it was certainly watchable. I still love the Lisbeth character.

Every once in a while a movie comes along that is so important that it needs to be seen. It is the perfect mixture of everything that rabid movie fans like. Action, drama, blood, guts and ... strippers. That's right. Zombie Strippers is now on streaming.

Actually, checking my account info it says the 9.99 thing goes into effect starting the first billing period on or after Jan 2. So it's not grandfathered.

When I go to my account, I get: Your plan is no longer offered
You are currently on the 1 DVD out at-a-time (Unlimited) for $8.99 plan which is no longer offered. If you select a new plan, you will no longer be able to return to this plan.
*Ah, okay, if I go the Sub terms, I get: The price of your 1 DVD out at-a-time (Unlimited) plan will change to $9.99 (plus any applicable tax) a month starting with your next billing period on or after Jan 02, 2011.

Streamed "The Keep" last night (Michael Mann's second movie). I like it, but it hasn't aged really well. Picture was decent for non-HD. Sound was horrific...maybe the worst ever. I kept have to go from -35db to -18db.

Another boatload of movies were put on streaming the last few days so take a peek at feedflix.
Have two to recommend:
Twilight Samurai - Not your typical samurai flick. It reminding me a bit of Unforgiven as the main character is an unassuming family man financially in trouble that is given a job he doesn't want but is capable of doing. It's mainly a drama with little fighting so have that expectation going in.
Dorm - Coming of age story with a supernatural theme. Saw this a few years ago after a friend recommended it and it really surprised me. I was expecting your typical asian horror flick but it wasn't that at all. There's a couple of WTF culture shock moments in there but otherwise is easily digestible for the Western audience.
A slight nod to The White Ribbon. German film that takes place right before World War 1. It's kinda a Mystery but there's no answers given to anything that happens in the film. You kinda have to draw your own conclusions of who might have done what. Which some will probably like, others (like me) will be just ok with, and then some will hate that there's no resolution. What I enjoyed most about it was just seeing the daily life of this small town in the early 1900's. It was kinda like a dark and gritty version of Wallnut Grove.

Twilight Samurai is a real joy to watch (even with some of the heavy tones). I highly, highly recommend it. It was nominated for an oscar for best foreign film, if i'm not mistaken. I'll put the other two on my queue tonight based on your taste so far.

Watched it again since it was released Great cast (though under-utilized) Wouldn't mind some kind of remake of the original book.

That was actually the Tangerine Dream soundtrack No...just sound quality. The track itself is awesome. I think it was poor because I was running Netflix through my Google TV revue which outputs only PCM audio.

For those of you who like Hong Kong gangster/hitman type films, "Vengeance" is available on instant.
It's a Johnnie To film in the same vein as "The Mission" and "Exiled"

I have officially run out of dvds to have delivered. Looks like it's time to switch to streaming only....... and even those are running out.
It may be time to ditch Netflix for awhile and let the library build back up with things I want to watch.

Heh, yeah. I have a DVD queue of 235 and an Instant Watch queue of 262, so I feel the same way. And I know I watch way more movies than any of my friends (currently the 3-at-a-time plan, cycled once a week).

This is my 1st time dropping into this thread as Netflix only recently arrived in Canada. I keep reading about a DVD queue - I'm guessing that's somethings that's only available in the US as I've never seen any mention of it on the Canadian site. The only plan available here is for 7.99 and it only supports live streaming - unless I missed something.
As to instant watch films, I'll warn any one against watching Martyrs and expecting to just see an extremely gory horror film. The film is far darker and gorier than any horror film I've ever seen - and I've seen some bad ones. I can see why it originally got an 18A+ rating in France, and I'm in the camp of approving such a stern classification for it. It's without a doubt the darkest, most disturbing, and possibly most depressing, film I've ever watched and I could barely make it through. I say possibly depressing, because it seems to make some attempt at a moralistic/spiritual conclusion at the end, albeit it's done very Kubrician with far more questions left unanswered than answered. IMO there's just too much gore and gut-wrenching violence in it for the theme to truly come through. I guess on the other hand if you want to watch a film that comes close to graphically depicting the worst tortures ever committed in history, this would be it.

I'm usually not a fan of horror films that include gratuitous gore, but for some reason I really enjoyed Martyrs. There was something so surreal about the experience after the first half of the film that it transcended the label "torture porn" and became something a bit more cerebral. my DVD queue is at 51, but my instant one is at 203, so I'm running out of DVD's to watch too.

Disney signs deal with NetflixKeep it down, it's not as good as you think. In its announcement of the deal, Netflix brags that several unspecified Disney-owned shows, from channels including ABC, Disney Channel and ABC Family will start streaming on Netflix as early as 15 days after they first air.
New to the streaming party will be Ugly Betty and Brothers & Sisters. The first two High School Musical movies will also be available, saving you the indignity of having to hide your DVDs whenever people come to visit.
Hollywood ReporterAmong the shows covered by the deal are ABC Family's Greek and Melissa & Joey, Disney Channel's Phineas and Ferb and all episodes of older ABC shows Lost and Ugly Betty. Lost, for example, previously only had episodes from the first six seasons available on Netflix. Also part of the deal are previous seasons of ABC shows Grey's Anatomy and Brothers & Sisters.
