I'll third The Visitor.  I was really skeptical at first, as I have never been too fond of this type of movie, but it is an excellent film and I really like the characters a lot.

One of my favorites is Fido - during the 50s and lots of nuclear fallout, zombies walk the earth - scientist have figured out how to tame them and now they act as servants or even pets.

Just a heads up. Netflix added 1,000 plus movies to their streaming service today. I'd use FeedFlix to sort through them all: http://feedfliks.com/streaming

A lot of forgettable stuff in there but a few keepers as well. Actually a lot of the stuff I'm adding are these old horror flicks I haven't seen since I was a kid/teen like "The Food of the Gods" and "Subspecies".

Zero Effect came on a week or two ago. It has Bill Pullman and Ben Stiller, but I don't know if a lot of people have seen it or not. It's one of my favorites.

Huh, the Indiana Jones movies aren't showing up for me with Watch Instantly.  Is that possibly regional?  Or maybe Feedfliks was just wrong on that one.

Oddly enough I was just this very minute trying to see why I couldn't add Crystal Skull to my queue.  Feedflix is showing it as expired.  I was just about to try and watch it with the RiffTrax audio, too.

Instantwatcher is a really cool site.

We watched Ponyo this weekend (beware of the catchy theme song!) and MST3K: Secret Agent Super Dragon.

I also noticed they have like 120+ Pink Panther cartoons, so if you ever want a short 5-6 minute feature to start a movie night, there you go.

It was goofy and stupid, and I expected that and just let it entertain me. It was all fine until Cobra Commander put on his mask. What the hell was that?

Finished off the first season of Nip/Tuck. Awesome show. I can't stand watching the surgeries but love the characters and the writing. I found the show pretty dark overall but there is some really nice wit on display too. The stories typically do not go where you think they are going to go. I loved being continually surprised and often stunned when the show went from the unexpected to over the top.

Highly recommend the show if you haven't seen it. If the surgeries bother you they become less prominent a few episodes in where they are reduced to a 30 second music montage.

I read the show starts losing steam during Season 4 and then after that it gets worse. But hell if there are 4 seasons around the quality of S1 I'll be happy.

I tried Nip/Tuck and also didn't care for the surgery scenes.  I'm probably going to end up skipping it, too much other stuff to watch.

This is actually why I stopped watching icon_lol I think I watched the first two seasons but I was getting so stressed about the surgery scenes. A shame, because I really did like the stories.

There is a great documentary of Danny Trejo (Machete) called Champion. Find out what happens "when Shirley Temple fights John Wayne"...

Hot damn, the OSS 117 films are available on streaming from netflix now.

The first one

the second one

Seriously...do yourself a favor...watch them.  They can be outrageously funny.  And the lead actor is my pick for the greatest Inspector Clouseau that isn't in a Pink Panther film.

Oh wow. I remember seeing the trailers for The Fall way back when. Then I just totally forgot about it.

I'll recommend Carriers staring Chris Pine (new Captain Kirk). It takes place a few days after the worlds given up trying to contain a lethal virus. Everyone is on their own or dead. A group of four young people drive cross country to try and make it to the shore of a remote area they plan to live. To keep from being infected they've set up rules to adhere to. But those rules are challenged almost from the get go.

For an end of the world movie this one has slower pacing but it kept me interested throughout. Like Monsters this is just a small slice of a larger story. I do have to say the ending sucked but that was 60 seconds from the entire movie and didn't really ruin it - just was disappointing.

I've been watching the British sitcom The IT Crowd the past few weeks and have found it pretty amusing.  The first episode is pretty representative of the entire series available,18 - 24 minute shows currently, so you can figure out pretty quickly if it's your cup of tea.

I'm a fan of The IT Crowd as well.  It is goofy enough that it overcomes the normal trappings of sitcoms.  Plus, it has British/Irish IT nerds.

Batman: Under the Red Hood.  it's the latest Batman animated movie; I'm watching it now and it's pretty good, darker than they have been (it's PG-13).  the only downside is they got a different guy voicing the Joker.

The Girl Who Played with Fire is up on IW.  It is the sequel to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and features the same two lead actors.

Swedish with sub-titles - just to warn those away who cannot stand sub-titles or do not speak Swedish.

pulled back up to let you all know that The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus is now on instant!   This is a fantastic flick, tho I will warn you it is a Terry Gilliam movie and thus is not standard hollywood.  It also has Heath Ledgers final film appearance.  Anyway if you wanted to see this, now is your chance.
