Hmmm..The Mummy 3. Seems to have good and bad points. The 'kid' is a twenty something now so thats better. I hate kids in my action movies. Seems they are missing Rachel Weisz so thats a bad point. Then again its got Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh so thats cool. From the cast it would seem to be more action so thats good i suppose.

Rachel Weisz will not be starring in this film. At first, the character of Evelyn was going to be killed off, having not survived an Air Raid on London during World War II, but in the end, it was decided to bring Evelyn back, and actress Maria Bello has been cast to play the role. This has resulted in a major outcry from fans who are not pleased with the decision to re-cast the role and find Bello to be an unsuitable replacement based on her appearance and American accent. Recent photos of the actress in the role of Evelyn have sparked an even larger outcry from fans who threaten to boycott the film due to Weisz's absence.

I'm kinda with the fans on this one - Rachel Weisz she ain't.  Still, should be a fun, as already stated, popcorn flick.

I love, love, LOVE the mummy movies so I will likely watch this in the theater, but man, Rachel Weisz WAS evelyn. From her looks to her soft british accent-casting a somewhat harsh american actress in her place seems like an awful idea. Good to see brendan fraser getting work though, the man is talented.

Yeah, count me in as bummed that Rachel Weisz isn't returning.  Mummy Returns has kind of aged quickly for me, but the first one still holds up wonderfully and is a ton of fun.

I enjoyed The Mummy, but I thought the Mummy Returns was a mess, with enough re-used plot points that it felt like a re-hash of the first movie, with a kid.

It's good to see Brendan Fraser getting work again. He did have some poor movie choices towards the end of his fifteen minutes, but I challenge anyone to say he wasn't fantastic in the three episodes of scrubs he did. His last episode ("My Screwup") was simply genius.

Well, it couldn't possibly we worse than The Mummy Returns. That was one of the more colossal disappointments I've seen. I loved the first Mummy movie, but the sequel was just overbearingly STUPID with glaring plot holes and massive leaps in logic that were too much to bear even for a mindless popcorn flick. That being said, this third movie has some things going for it. Brendan Fraser was great in the previous two. Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh? Yes please! Also, Rob Cohen is directing it, and not Steven Sommers. Cohen has directed some decent action movies before so there is hope. This third movie was written by people other than Steven Sommers, who completely lost it with the second movie. I guess I am cautiously optimistic about this third Mummy movie.

I don't think casting Maria Bello as Evey is any more of a stretch than scripting that Evey was suddenly the reincarnated Egyptian BFF of Anck Su Namun in the second one. Actually, I don't think it's any more of a stretch than the entire plot of the second film.

I did like the first one a lot though, and Brendan Fraser's character is pretty cool.

My biggest issues with Mummy Returns was that it was too ambitious for it's (large) budget and it was made on a very tight schedule that didn't allow time for the effects to really be finished- consequently it's some of the worst work that ILM has ever done on a film of that scale (and the compressed time schedule was the reason that the Scorpion King CGI at the end was so awful).

Don't much care for that poster, ugh. I loved the first movie, liked the second okay, and will see the third, though I agree that  Weisz WAS Evelyn and it won't seem the same without her. Still, I hope it's good and does well. I like Brendan Fraser, and Jet Lee.

Now that Anck Su Namun (played by the delicious Patricia Velasquez) is dead, the Mummy series holds no interst for me.

I liked the Mummy returns because we got to see lots of Anck Su Namun goodness.
