Mmmmm, I do love me the McRib.

On a somewhat related note, I got a call from a client this morning named Ronald McDonald.  It took everything I had not to ask him how Grimace and Mayor McCheese were doing.  slywink

I think my older brother liked them in the 1980s, but he remarked that while they tasted great, they had a rubbery texture, like you were eating a melted piece of tire with some sauce on it.  icon_razz

I always wondered how McDs could build a culture around a shitty fast food sandwhich. I mean, I doubt it really tastes anywhere near as good as people make it how to be. Or that they hype it up so much that there mind just says "goddamn this sandwhich is awesome as it totally destroys my stomach and intenstinal track."

Damnit!  My local McD's is closed for "remodeling" (which apparently consists of razing the old building and starting from scratch).  That means a much longer drive to the next closest one. That's like 4 miles away!

Never really liked the McRib. Not that tastey, bad bun, and the onions come dehydrated and stay that way.

I don't know, to me that picture looks like a juicy piece of cooked pork, sliced to expose the inside. At least I hope that's what it is.

There's a reason they only offer it once or twice a year.  If it was a regular menu item we'd all hate the thing, but since it only shows up we forget what it was like the last time.  Or we think that maybe it's different now.  Then we try it again and realize it's not that great.  Then another year passes and the cycle begins again.

You know you're going to be driving home from work tonight, pass a McD's, and be tempted.   icon_lol

Would a picture of a slaughtered cow make you stop eating steak? Or hamburgers?
How about the poor butchered pigs? No ribs or ham or bacon?
How about the poor fish and crabs and lobsters?
A picture of them being boiled or shelled or hooked make you stop?
What about fruits and vegetables? They all live and die, therefore they must have feeling of some kind.
Would pictures of carrots and lettuce being ripped from the ground and their families make you stop eating them?

Would a picture of a starving child in Africa make you donate?
A picture of someone who died from cancer make you stop smoking.

If pictures are gonna dictate how we live our lives, we doomed.

P.S. I love the McRib Tongue

Have there been any confirmed sightings of this thing in the wild? I totally want one.  Yes, I know it's pure crap, but so is the majority of the food in our diets.  I can slum it from time to time.

Used to love the McRib, but, last time I had one the sauce tasted different.  Not sure if they actually changed it or if my tastes have just shifted over the years.

well fuck, my local McD's didn't have them available either.  heard the commercial about 5 times to day so I'm pretty sure I wasn't hallucinating it.  oh well, I consoled myself by going next door and getting a chorizo and steak burrito with chips, cheese and homemade salsa from the local Mexican place.

Wouldja believe?...

McRib Locator [unofficial, mind you]
http://kleincast.com/maps/mcrib.php

Apparently there are no sightings in Virginia.  tear I guess the thing to keep in mind is that McRibs have sort of a "regional" appeal, so even if you see ads on TV, there's no guarantee they'll have them in your area. Personally, I'd like to see the horribly styrofoam-wasting McDLT return. The Angus burgers are fine but too big (1/3 lb.) for my tastes.

I'm walking over to McD's in just a few minutes. I doubt they'll have it but I'll keep an eye out. And who knew the sauce has Cucumbers in it??? It's health food!  icon_razz

I limit myself to McD's just once or twice a week now (we have one close to my office is all). It's just, when I was going to high school on military bases in Korea in 1983-87 we didn't have 'em there (now the bases are awash with every fast food you can imagine). And every time I came back for my summer visits to Virginia, I just couldn't get enough McDonald's. It was like a piece of home, and I practically wanted to cry when summer was over and I had one last Big Mac for the year.

That Nostalgia drug is working overtime again.  icon_biggrin

Ahh crap!  You mean it's not good for you?  Well there go my lunch plans.

I never understood why people post the nutrional inforamtion for fast foods restaurants to try and prove some point.  You always see it any fast food thread (the hardees one most recently).  It's not like we don't know they are terrible for us, it's freaking Mcdonalds!

I'm reminded of Chick-Fil-A's cow mascots who run around with signs that say "Eat More Chikin!" Maybe McDonald's should have a guy in a chicken outfit with a sign that says "Eat More Hamburgrrrs!"  icon_razz

There was one McRib sighting in Virginia last month. Too far for me to check out though.

LOL, no they were fine.  needed a bit more sauce though, and they changed the way they make them.  of course it may have changed awhile back, but I remember when they first came out they has a separator machine for cooking them, and then they kept them dipped in a heated vat of BBQ sauce so they would marinate now they just keep them in a plastic tray and rub some sauce on them when you order it.
