I'm not overly worried.  Some said Avatar's 3D wouldn't be impressive either.

That's something completely different. A smooth framerate for movies changes the experience dramatically, and in my experience, never in a good way. Every time I see this kind of thing (for the most part in Michael Mann films), I fail to see the characters and instead can't stop myself from seeing the actors. Peter Jackson got a lot of skepticism thrown his way when he aired his intention to film The Hobbit at 48 fps, and that's for a good reason.

"That's a discussion we're having, yeah," Jackson said. "We have certainly been talking to the studio about some of the material we can't film, and we've been asking them so we can do a bit more filming next year. Which, I don't know what would come of that, whether it'd be extended editions or whatnot. But those discussions are ongoing."

Ebert weighs in on the fps controversy.  I may not always agree with Ebert, but I do respect him.  He has some interesting points in that article.  He also has raised my interested in seeing just how good a film can look in 48 fps as opposed to the standard 24.
