this cast keeps getting more and more  eek

A new Character called Tauriel will be played by Evangeline Lilly(Kate from Lost),who is an Elf,described as Daughter of Mirkwood and Barry Humphries(Dame Edna Everage) will be playing Gorkin the Goblin King who has only appeared in Lord of the Rings:Battle for Middle Earth II Video game

and IMDB HAVE got Benedict Cumberbatch(BBCs Sherlock) as the voice of Smaug as i think we may of been discussing a few pages back,it also has him listed as Necromancer (The Necromancer of Dol Guldur)

who ...
Spoiler for Hiden:
is actually

The Goblin King was under the mountains that the party took shelter in during the storm (where they were subsequently captured). I don't believe he ever had a name other than "Goblin King" in the book, though.

Dean O'Gorman as Fili and Aidan Turner as Kili in "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" (Photo by James Fisher)

Two of the youngest Dwarves, Fili and Kili have been born into the royal line of Durin and raised under the stern guardianship of their uncle, Thorin Oakensheild. Neither has ever travelled far, nor ever seen the fabled Dwarf City of Erebor. For both, the journey to the Lonely Mountain represents adventure and excitement. Skilled fighters, both brothers set off on their adventure armed with the invincible courage of youth, neither being able to imagine the fate which lies before them.

I am most interested in Aidan Turner and how he is in the film being a big fan of his from Being Human, although admittedly he looks more pin up than dwarf in that picture, but perhaps because as it says he is one of the youngest

Fili looks kind of silly with that hair, kinda like he's a dwarf drag queen.

(L-r) Stephen Hunter as Bombur, James Nesbitt as Bofur and William Kircher as Bifur in New Line Cinema's and MGM's fantasy adventure The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, a Warner Bros. Pictures release.

While most of the Company of Thorin Oakensheild is related to the royal and noble line of Durin, Bofur, his brother Bombur and their cousin Bifur most definitely are … not. Born and bred in the West, descendants of coal miners and iron workers, they have joined the Quest for the Lonely Mountain partly to seek their fortune and partly because they were told the beer was free.

"Dwarf Lords in their own right, Balin and Dwalin are close relatives of Thorin. Beyond this, these brothers are two of his most loyal and trusted friends. An old warrior, Balin has lived through hard times and fought many battles, yet he harbors doubts about the wisdom of the Quest to retake the Lonely Mountain. Dwalin has no such forebodings – his belief in Thorin’s leadership is unshakeable. A powerful and bruising fighter, with a natural tendency to distrust anyone who is not a Dwarf, particularly anyone who might be an Elf, Dwalin is not someone to cross lightly."
(L-R) Ken Stott as Balin and Graham McTavish as Dwalin

I can't put my finger on it, but the photos we're seeing of the dwarves just seems...off.  They're almost comical to me.  Hopefully this is just the setting in whch the photos are being taken and are not reflective of what we'll see onscreen.  Although Jackson has more than proven himself capable of handling the franchise with both style and wit, so I'm sure that's the case.

yeah, maybe it's because they're using the same kind of backdrop that you'd see in prom pics.

I'm impressed with what I'm seeing so far. It can't be an easy thing to introduce 13 new characters -- all short with beards -- to an audience, while making sure they're all unique, interesting, and easily recognizable. I have a feeling if Michael Bay were to try to tackle the job he'd just use the same actor and change the boot color in post.

Bay doing LotR?  That...would...ROCK!  The Dwarves would be able to transform into Elves...ELVES WITH WHEELS!

And during the Elven exodus, we'd get at least 2 scenes of one of the carriages breaking down and Arwen having to bend over the wheel in jean shorts while Motley Crue plays in the background.

Cue Bilbo walking in slow motion towards the camera while the Lonely Mountain explodes dramatically in the background, with a Hans Zimmer soundtrack just to emphasize the cool factor.

It's interesting how much they've toned down the dwarf makeup from the earlier films.  Inevitable I suppose, given the need to let these actors distinguish themselves and the difficulty of acting through layers of plastic.  But its going to be weird looking at Gimli in comparison now.

Maybe its a father and son look, and not so much a Dwarf look, see this picture here of Gloin,Gimli's Father (Gloin is on the right,of the first pic),and then Gimli in the picture on the right

and also it maybe an age thing also,at the time of LOTRs,Gimli was 139 years old, if you scroll up and look again at the oldest of Bilbo's troupe and see pictures of Balin and Dwalin they look to have more make-up on,while the youngest Fili and Kili look to have pretty much no make-up on

It looks to me like they are using prosthetics for their fingers. At least the awkward sword grip in Thorin's picture indicate this, and the fingers look sort of "wrong".

that might have more to do with the big honkin ring on his finger.

That was my first thought too, but the more I looked at the picture, the more convinced I was that prosthetics are involved. The fingers look too large and sort of off for the actor. It's not like it's the first time they do this kind of thing either. John Rhys-Davies was covered in prosthetics in LOTR (which it turned out he was allergic to, leading to lots of pain and suffering), and even something as simple as Gandalf's nose was made bigger that way.

all the other posters look genuine, but they are all out this year,so perhaps the Hobbit one is just temporary

been looking for that picture that Frodo originally is in with Sting,i think its from the attack on Weathertop in Fellowship, can't find the picture though
EDIT:this will have to do,just a minute or two after this scene, and just before he drops his sword in fear(i think)

found this as well, deleted Scene where Frodo imagines himself become like Gollum(Two Towers it said)
