Maybe it's because I've been around the mentally ill quite a bit the past couple years, but the predominant reaction I got from this was pity.

HAHAHA.  I was a telemarketer for a while.  She isn't very nice.  The worst thing that's ever been said to me was:

Me:  Hi, I'm with ______ ______ mortgage.  Can I interest you in a free mortgage analysis and projection report?
Old Man:  Well, I'm not sure you can do that.
Me:  Oh yeah sir?  Why's that?
Old Man:  Because I don't have a mortgage!  I haven't had a mortgage for 30 years!  How do you like that huh?  You feel that in your pants?  Haha!
Me:  Haha, yes sir that was clever!
Old Man:  Okay have a good day.
Me:  You too sir, you have a good one.

There was a guy called my wife's uncle one time trying to sell him vinyl siding. He was tired of them bothering him so he started asking questions and being all interested in thier wirk. Kept them talking nearly half and hour . Got to the point where the telemarketer asked him when they could come out to install it for him and her uncle says.."theres just one thing I dont understand...how do you install that on a full brick house?"...They never called him again.

ok this is sort of odd.  I work in customer service and I swear I talked to this same lady.  though she wasn't yelling at me but she was yelling at me for "men" in general. She was constantly yelling the whole time, but she didn't let me talk to much so I just would listen.  Something about her being mentally abused by men and how it turned her into a prostitute.  

It honestly went on for 10 minutes before I decided I should just hang up and get back to work.  But this must be some lady who is calling and doing this to customer service/telemarketing companies.  

I wish I would of been able to record it.

My work gets calls from different telemarketers all the time.  Sometimes I'm more curt with them than others if I'm really busy at the moment they call, but usually I try to remember that the person I'm speaking with is just a working-class grunt who's trying to earn an honest wage like anyone else.

I just hang up on them. They can then move on and irritate someone else, and I can go about my day.

The problem is that they have a job that's hated by like 90% of the world.

They can't seriously be making enough an hour to warrant all the hate they get on a daily basis.
