CELEBRATE 20 YEARS OF FILMMAKING WITH the ultimate blu-ray set

Includes 8 Groundbreaking Films – From Tarantino’s Debut in

RESERVOIR DOGS to His Most Recent Academy Award® Nominated Film, INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS – Arriving on November 20th

SANTA MONICA, CA (September 17, 2012) – Celebrating Quentin Tarantino’s legendary filmmaking, Lionsgate and Miramax are proud to present the Tarantino XX: 8-Film Collection, arriving on Blu-ray Disc November 20th.

Tarantino XX contains eight films chosen by Tarantino to illustrate the first 20 years of his career, featuring the films that helped define his early success, including Reservoir Dogs, True Romance, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill Vol. 1, Kill Bill Vol. 2, Death Proof and Inglourious Basterds.  To complete the stunning high definition 10-disc set, the Tarantino XX: 8-Film Collection also features two discs with five hours of all-new bonus material, highlighted by a critics’ retrospective on Tarantino’s groundbreaking catalog of films and  “20 Years of Filmmaking” that contains interviews with critics, stars and other masters of cinema.

Tarantino XX: 8-Film Collection showcases one of the most innovative filmmakers of our time and is a must-have for serious film fans, as Tarantino’s highly-anticipated new film, Django Unchained, prepares to hit theaters.  Honoring the 20th anniversary of Reservoir Dogs – the cultural milestone that brought Tarantino to the forefront as a cinematic legend – the collection is highlighted by recurring appearances from celebrated actors including Uma Thurman (Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill), Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill), Tim Roth (Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction) and Steve Buscemi (Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction), and also includes starring performances from iconic actors such as Brad Pitt (Inglourious Basterds), Pam Grier (Jackie Brown) and Robert Forster (Jackie Brown).

Tarantino XX on Blu-ray also features striking, original artwork designed and illustrated by MONDO (www.mondotees.com).  Housed in collectible packaging, the Tarantino XX: 8-Film Collection will be available for the suggested retail price of $119.99.

I've only got Pulp Fiction, so I may keep an eye on this.

There was no room for that and Crimson Tide.

However, a recently unannounced Joss Whedon set will have both Toy Story and Alien: Resurrection.

See while this is certainly fucking brilliant, they always release these box sets when a new film is due(therefor making the box set somewhat lacking),with Django Unchained due

same with the Bond Box set, with Skyfall due out next month

I know its linked advertising to sell the new film and old films, but still

I watched Pulp Fiction the other day, while the film has many great scenes,i still love the 'washing the blood off their hands' scene

Quote
Jules: Fuck, nigga, what the fuck did you do to his towel?
Vincent: I was dryin' my hands.
Jules: You're supposed to wash 'em first!
Vincent: You watched me wash 'em.
Jules: I watched you get 'em wet.
Vincent: I was washing 'em. But this shit's hard to get off. Maybe if I had Lava or something, I coulda done a better job.
Jules: I used the same fuckin' soap you did and when I got finished, the towel didn't look like no goddamn Maxi-Pad!

The problem with basterds to me was that it only had good scenes, and just didn't come together as a movie, but rather blunder from what felt like one mostly unrelated scene to another

Balls to that,if they have put True Romance in,why not From Dusk Till Dawn and National Born Killers...as much as i love True Romance,it's the only one in that box set he did not direct and seems odd they have included it when compared to the others

Tarantino credits
True Romance - Written by
National Born Killers- Story By
From Dust 'Til Dawn- Screenplay By,Executive Producer,Star

It's not even studios that have in part made the choice,True Romance is Warner Bros,Kill Bill,Pulp Fiction,Jackie Brown etc are Disney same as From Dusk Till Dawn...strange

I actually JUST watched Basterds today. I'm just so incredibly impressed. Watching it, I was like, "I will never write anything as good as this," and it's humbling and thrilling at the same time.

Not only that, but some of the quick cuts away from the action just magnify things that much better, such as the bar scene where it cuts away from them to show Stiglitz getting whipped, then cuts back to the bar, where Stiglitz has to bury that and keep talking to the SS officer.

The sign of a good character or characterization is if you could see a story written about nothing but that character. If you can, that's a sign you've got something great. There are so many great characters in that film, Hicox, the Bear Jew, Raine, Shoshanna, Landa, on down the line. Everyone is mesmerizing.
