Is it bad that this was the first thing that came to mind for me as well?   ninja

Yes, Pete, you are a Bad, Bad, Bad Person!  Not as bad as the bonehead that thinks someone who can't shoot properly belongs back in action though.  eek

If only we could believe that the off-hand training is to protect Kato, just in case he gets caught under fire while being transported back to the States.  Now that would make sense...  saywhat

Just a little update.   It seems that I have to learn to shoot left handed for now, the heat from the RPG blast scarred my right eye enough to downgrade my vision from 20/10 to 20/70  icon_mad

Shooting left handed is terrible,..... ejected shell casings (hot) always hitting the shooter's head.

that sucks.  any chance of a corrective contact lens or surgery fixing it?

(ps. does that mean we all stand a chance against you in multiplayer deatmatch now?)

I am really really really really scared of naval medicine when it comes to eye surgery, so I'm looking to get wavefront laser surgery on my right eye when I get home sometime this month.  It'll cost me around $3000+ grand, but worth it methinks.

D'oh! Does this mean your redeployment will be reconsidered, seeing that you'll need retraining and all?

+1.  Would they send you into battle not being able to shoot?

SRSLY?!

Do they teach to shoot off handed in training?  Even if they do if your vision is less then stellar how in the heck do they expect you to hit anything?

Off handed one eye not working.  Maybe they should pop your eardrums too so you can better be in tune with the force...

There is a rifle range (battle zero) in Iraq so I can practice there.  Since I'm not a jedi I'll just noob-tube it until I get better.  Or grab/steal a nice shotgun from the Army.

Kato, just be sure to watch out for Hand Grenades:

Especially when you are fighting in the miritary:

I'm not sure if you guys have fresh produce over there or if you're limited to MREs, but at least the herpes should be fresh:

Or do they just feed you high-grade puke?

But at least you shouldn't have dry hands:

I see why it was so easy to aquire Dogmeat:

But stay away from the ass meat:

And always use the restroom without hesitation:

Was that waisis enough for you?

See more at engrish.com.  My, the things you can find on the intarwebs.  And it was my wife who suggested I post the hand grenade photo.   paranoid

Ah yes, Engrish.  Love it.

So no extra training/time off from the field because of my eye.  "They" said that I'm ready to deploy as long as my eyes meet these requirements:

(1) Color discrimination of red/green

(2) Correctable vision of 20/20 in one eye; 20/100 in other eye.

Yeah I told them my shooting eye is not 20/20 anymore, and powers that be said, "Time to go southpaw Son."

Update:

On September 18 I will have reached my 14th year in the military and I'm at the crossroads for deciding my future.  Mid-life crisis aside, I already put in a in-service transfer from the Marines to the Army as a combat medic.  If that doesn't go through, I guess it will be infantry all the way to the end.  Hopefully this week I will have a date on when I can return to the states for 10 days of leave.  After the little vacation, I have orders to rejoin my unit to Iraq for 5 more months and then immediately be redeployed back to Afghanistan.

Healing has gone really well, and I'm close to 100%.  I have a stress test/Physical Fitness test this week to ensure I can be discharged from the Hospital.  As I look at my pathetic looking scar on my arm, I still can't believe that a wound that tiny almost killed me.

Hope to see you guys stateside when I get there....Semper Fi.

I'm getting too old for this shit!

You go Army, you're going to have to change all your nicks and sigs.  That Semper Fi stuff don't fly with the regular Army.  Too bad they won't let you go green to blue.

On a serious note, glad to hear you're getting back up to speed.
