After reading up on our forum member, USMC Kato, that is over in Iraq's Anbar area and wanting to help him out I asked Ron if we could use GTs Paypal link to start a donation for a care package for him.

I have enjoyed many gaming nights with him and without knowing him personally he seems like a really stand-up guy (no Cee-kay, I don't want to date him)(figured I'd get that out of the way)

Kato, could provide via PM or in the forums the address where we could mail you a package?
If there are any specifics that would help insure the package gets to you that would be helpful.
We also need to know what you and maybe your team needs out there.

I believe Ron will be providing the link and I was thinking a few weeks to get any donations in.
I will work with Ron to get all the items and ship them out.

If we could also get this "stickied" for a bit that will help keep it on the forefront

Do you mean like just a summary "X total dollars from Y contributions"? That'd be cool. I don't know that putting specific donors + amounts would be good though; I don't like that idea.

Wife had another heart attack and stuff so all our buying is gone so we cant help except in morale Im afraid. We dumped all cable except basic tv and I had my net lowered to the bottom.

• Bulk quantities of religious materials contrary to the Islamic faith. Items for the personal use of the addressee are permissible.

Just to clarify we aren't looking for any large donations it was more of a "throw your money into a hat" type of thing and every dollar helps.

I have some bad news to report.  Here's a snippet from a message I got from Kato's wife.

"Just wanted to let you know whats happening with him at the moment.  Kato was injured on his last patrol by a rocket propelled grenade during a firefight.  His radial artery was severed (left arm) but he was able to apply a tourniquet to get the bleeding under control.  Was able to talk to his commanding officer and he said Kato was able to save two of his comrades (including his corpsman) while under fire.  Depending on his injury he might be flown to germany. "

I'll let you guys know more as I find out more.  We're still working on getting a package together for him and his squadmates.

Please keep his recovery in your thoughts and prayers.
