Supernatural season 5

Anyone still watching this show?  I was surprised to see it pop up on my DVR and watched the first episode of the new season. IIRC they said this is the last planned season (the creator said he originally planned for 5 seasons) so I'm guessing we'll see a lot if stuff being tied up. They've definitely thrown a curveball at the status quo, and they were dropping hints at another power being involved in the angels vs demons conflict.

I love the show because it can laugh itself.  Some of the best episodes have been the one off shows with goofy premises.  Dean lip syncing to Eye of the Tiger was hilarious.

I especially loved the 'Number One Fan' bit in last weeks episode.  it was a great example of this.

This is the last season?    Crap I just started watching it last year after some friends convinced me to give it a look. I don't normally follow any TV series -heck watch much TV for that matter- but somehow this one grabbed me. I like the fact that it's filmed in my home city and I can usually recognize most of the outdoor locations. I also like the David (X-Files) Nutter rub on it - oops sorry if that sounded a bit perverse.

personally, even though I'd hate to see it go, I don't think they can top the big guns they're pulling out for this season.

I'd love for this to be planned as the last season.  Not because I want the show to end, since I've loved this series since the beginning, but because I love a good ending.  It looks like they're building up to a slam-bang finish, and it would be sad if they have a huge climax, and then have the two of them dick around for another season.  Let's let them go out with a bang.

In the first episode, Bobby stabs himself with the knife that can kill demons. I thought the knife was supposed to kill the demon and the human host, so I was surprised to see Bobby still alive. That was part of the whole point of Sam lusting for the demon blood. It gave him the power to kill demons without killing the human. If the knife only kills the demon, and leaves the human alone, why wouldn't they just aim for non-lethal areas? Slice the arm, or the leg, kill the demon, and get the human to a hospital. It's a small thing, but it impacts all of last season.

my re-collection is kind of hazy (I was more like 'oh hellz  no they had better not kill Bobby', but it might not have been a demon in him- weren't the angels after them at that point?

The part that made me laugh most was the reference to House of Wax (a horrible, horrible movie starring both Paris AND the guy who plays Sam).  Dean mentions that he's never seen it when they're confronted by Paris and Sam just gives him this hilarious look.

I just watched this episode, and that made me bust a gut too, especially since I have seen the movie.  The quick cut to Sam's reaction shot was absolutely perfect.  Damn, I love this show.

great episode last week, with the Trickster.  it looked like it was going to be a one-off episode but actually wasn't, with a great reveal.

They've been pulling the "looks like a one-off, but then tie it into the main storyline" trick for years now.  Yet another of many reasons why this is one of my all-time favorite shows.

loved it.  the "commercial" made me laugh out loud.  dean looking into the camera and muttering, "Seriously??" and the final camel toe shot (surprised they got away with that one) were hilarious.

 I almost fastforwarded over that.  luckily I caught a glimpse of them and thought 'wait, they're doing commercials now?' so I rewound.  totally awesome bit.

I'm still watching it faithfully - it and every other ep. of SGU are the only series I'm watching. I really wish they'd announce any day now that they've reconsidering their decision to end it. I have some faith that David Nutter will become involved with something else that's equally as good though.  And yeah, the commercials are very funny.

they just renewed this for a sixth season.  last weeks episode was cool; 2 down, 2 to go.

the last 2 episodes have been pretty good, and last weeks episode delivered a serious kick to the balls to our heroes.  there's 6 episodes left in the season so I imagine things will only be getting more intense unless they decided to extend the apocalypse storyline into the sixth season.

I really don't know what they're going to do about the apocalypse thing.  My guess is that they're going to extend it into season 6 now that they've been renewed.  That could be a good thing, since it gives them room to make bigger villians out of the remaining two horsemen before they move on to the final showdown.

Of course, my worry is that they'll fall back to doing the monster of the week filler episodes.  That would be sad.

Yes it was a great episode.  Any of you guys check out the Ghostfacers on the CW website?  They have a little miniseries going on.  Clips are only about 3-4 minutes long but I am enjoying them so far.  Pretty funny stuff imo.

How the writers get away with some of this stuff is beyond me.  Talk about a dark sense of humor.

While I still enjoy their monster of the week episodes, I have to say I'm impressed with their ability to keep this story arc going.  Yeah, it gets a little goofy from time to time, and comes across almost as if they were flying by the seat of their pants in some instances, but it's still consistantly more amusing than X-Files was for the last 3 or 4 years of its life.

tonight was the season finale.  you can tell they had a plan to end the series with season 5, up until the very last few seconds I was wondering if maybe they had changed their mind.

I knew none of the deaths were going to stick; I was expecting a few more deaths to be reversed but I'm glad they didn't.  I'm really curious to see where they're going to go next season though, if they're going to skip ahead a bunch of years or pick up right where the finale ended.
