Dear Valued Customer, We want to provide you with the most up–to–date information about the tax rebate to which you may be entitled. Recently, you may have received a letter from the IRS advising you when to expect your Economic Stimulus Payment (rebate). That IRS letter may have inadvertently left off some important information. Taxpayers who chose to have their tax preparation fees deducted from their federal tax refund will receive their tax rebate in the mail, not via direct deposit. Our records show that you chose this payment option in TurboTax. As a result, the IRS has determined that you will receive your tax rebate in the mail. This may result in you receiving your rebate on a date later than expected. This situation, while not unique to TurboTax, is understandably causing some concern and confusion. To help further clarify the situation, below is the most current IRS rebate payment processing schedule, as well as additional resources about the tax rebates. I hope you find this information helpful. If you still have questions, the best source for the most up-to-date information is www.irs.gov (see the "Rebate Payment Questions" link). Sincerely, Bob Meighan Vice President, TurboTax Customer Advocacy What. The Hell. There's my answer. Bastards.

i found out today that even if you did direct deposit, the IRS had certain criteria you had to meet to be considered for the direct deposit of the Stimulus check. So many people who DID direct deposit, will have to still wait for the regular mailing.

it's an f'n joke. I got my $600 check and then the same week I get a bill saying that they 're-assessed' my taxes and I owe $500 more than I was told for property tax and it's due in less than 2 weeks or they charge 10% penalty.

That completely sucks! I'd be down at the property tax office raising a stink or contacting whatever elected government official overseas them.

I deducted my tax fees in TurboTax and got my direct deposit stimulus check on April 28th as they said I would. So it didn't happen to everyone.
Not saying that it isn't happening to anyone else, just that the IRS was not even handed in the application of whatever rule that letter is mentioning.

"We are sorry. Specific information about your Stimulus Payment is not available."
I paper filed asking for direct deposit. This has me concerned.

Deducting your fees from your taxes (e.g. "I get a $100 deduction because that's how much I paid TurboTax") appears not to be the trigger - it's if you elected to pay your TurboTax fees out of your refund. (e.g. "I don't pay anything outright to submit my taxes via TurboTax, I just get a refund check that's $100 smaller.")

I was in the last batch for direct deposit and I got it on the 15th. Used Turbo Tax, but just paid the fee right on the spot.

Gotta love it. And frankly, I'll get my check whenever I get it. It'll just show up in my checking account one day and so be it. If I balanced my checkbook like I'm supposed to, it might be a problem...

I submit my taxes, for which I somehow owed money this year back in Februray. I didn't get the options to deduct my Turbo Tax, so I didn't. I did use a third party (State Farm) to fill Turbo Tax out. I got no warning that I woudn't get my "rebate" by direct deposit. I was supposed to get my deposit on Friday. It didn't show up. I called their hot line today and recorded voice informed me that I would get my check within two weeks after July 11th.

Yeah, I guess if you owed taxes, you automatically got put into 'paper check' category instead of direct depost, even if you had the IRS automatically deduct what you owed out of your account.

That explains why I haven't got mine. That really sucks. Leave it to our government to make a big hairy mess out of something simple. Sheesh... So it sounds like I'll eventually get a snail mail telling me my check is coming. What a waste of money.

my check showed up in the mail today...filed online with an electronic withdrawal of the taxes i owed, and my letter from the IRS said that payment should arrive on 5/16. having the check in my hands one business past the promised date isn't too bad. i'm not sure what system they're following at this point, but my SSN ends in 03 if that gives anyone else a little hope of some extra cash soon.

They knew enough to take my directly from my account but not enough to depost it. I have over a month to wait. And there are strippers counting on that money.

I got my check yesterday, but I think the whole idea is stupid. Why didn't it come with some sort of letter saying it should be used for gas/energy, food, or AMERICAN MADE PRODUCTS. Really, who is this helping if we take our check to circuit city and buy a new Sony TV?

Ours came a couple of weeks ago. $100 went to my niece for a graduation present. $550 went into the wife's checking account, where money just disappears for no apparent gain. My $550 went into my ING Direct account. I will gradually draw it down over the next 10 weeks or so to cover my deficit (I earn about $40 per week less than the bare minimum I need to survive). Oh, and my doctor unexpectedly took $90 for a stupid cholesterol test. Which I flunked. Now he wants to retest me. Like I'll ever get suckered into that again.

Still don't have a check yet, but it's already spent. We're planning to gut the master bathroom to the studs and start from scratch. The demo isn't what I'm worried about. It's the stuff we need to buy to put the room back together again. <<shudder>>
My boss has done two bathrooms of his own already, so he's agreed to help as much as he can. The rest I'll have to learn as I go.
