Anyone else digesting the new Michael Crichton- State of Fear? Any takes on his theory on global warming? Only about half way through this latest book but it is enjoyable so far. I found Prey to start out well but run out of steam ... Surprisingly enough, for someone that likes sci-fi and fantasy, I thought Airframe was a great book.

Yeah, I finished it and Prey last week.
The one thing that struck me about Fear, was the action plotline
really
reminded me of a Clive Cussler Dirk Pitt book.
I enjoyed the book as whole, with my only complaint being that the book itself seemed like a serilalized version of his speeches he has given over the past couple of years about the same sbject.
IE
Global warming/Enviromentalism is treated as a religion, and as science is pretty much junk.
BecauseI feel the same way, I probably enjoyed a heck of a lot more than a believer would, I assume.
Since you are only half way throught it, I won't spoil the ending. However, when you get done, I bet you will be wondering who one of the characters is based on, being how Crichton dealt with him
One more thing, you read Prey. Did the style and theme of the book remind you of Richard Matheson's
I am Legend
?

I have not read I am Legend. What is it? Sounds familiar...
About 3/4 through Fear now and loving it. I am - shocked - by some of his asertations concerning the "State of Fear" and how we are manipulated by the media. I mean if you have half a brain you know it's true. But when I read that section (the crazy professor) it was like someone dumped a gallon of cold water down the back of my shirt.

Post-apocalyptic vampire tale. Basis for
The Omega Man
. A really slick little book.
