Well, I'm not too impressed. I look at these posters and I wonder what I'm looking at. They're not giving me the vibe that they're supposed to be classic characters.

Scotty...doesn't look anything even close to his 'other' self.

I need to see them all a bit clearly (and larger) to make up my mind though.

lets face it - no-matter what they do, it will NOT be the old cast...

so, die-hard trekkies will moan and groan, but those of us just wishing for a great sci-fi adventure set in the Star Trek universe, should at least go into it with an open mind

I believe it's upper left Sulu, upper right Scotty (Simon Pegg), bottom left McCoy (Urban), bottom right Chekov.

didn't you read the text?

Just like with the Comic Con posters (which are also being given out), the new posters form the Star Trek delta emblem when put together, but each is a large sized poster on its own. The four new Star Trek posters feature (clockwise from upper right below): John Cho (Sulu), Simon Pegg (Scotty), Anton Yelchin (Chekov), and Karl Urban (McCoy).

is it just me, or does Chekov look like a young Doctor Bashir from DS9?

He may have read the text, but it's wrong.  They seem to have their left and right sides confused.  If you start clockwise from the upper left, the photos are of Sulu, Scotty, Checkov and McCoy.

LOL, I didn't even notice that.  If it's 4 pics in a 2x2 layout I always just take the upper left pic as being the first and go clockwise from there.

not sure what they should do with simon pegg.  on one hand, he's a great actor to cast, but scotty was just so iconic in his older years that it's hard for anyone to really replace him.  i saw that pic and it doesn't do much for me.

i think it will be difficult for any of us to get a good feel for a character and the actor until we see what direction the story is taking.  if they go for a more serious tone ala nolan's batman, then the actors may be just right.  who knows.

It's not that at all. It's the fact that looking at them, I can't even recognize what characters they're supposed to be. And open mind or not, recognition is going to be a big part of it. And it will take a lot of good acting to convince my mind that these are in fact the same characters we grew up with.

I'm one of those not overly impressed by the Romulan Bad Guy.  (If I have that correct.)  To me a space baddie shouldn't look like the gangbanger at the corner store.  But, to be fair, many things about movies don't look good until they hit the big screen and then it works.  Or not.  Time will tell.
