I'm late to this thread, because frankly the idea of another reboot of spiderman gets a hefty dose of MEH from me. The trailer is far from intriguing and looks like it covers all of the same ground that was done just a few years ago.
I wonder if this film will find an audience. I have zero interest in seeing it.
They had me on board with Toby McGuire and company for parts 1 and 2 and then ruined what would probably have become my favorite franchise in 3.
I'll never see this movie and I hope it bombs.

Are they gonna reboot it again if it fails.. and have a 6 year old Spidey get his powers in Elementary school and beat bullies at the playground?

official synopsis of the film, not too spoilery if you've been following the film but spoiled just in case: Spoiler for Hiden: One of the world's most popular characters is back on the big screen as a new chapter in the Spider-Man legacy is revealed in "The Amazing Spider-Man." Focusing on an untold story that tells a different side of the Peter Parker story, the new film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, with Martin Sheen and Sally Field. The film is directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay written by James Vanderbilt, based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Laura Ziskin, Avi Arad, and Matt Tolmach are producing the film in association with Marvel Entertainment for Columbia Pictures, which will open in theaters everywhere in 3D on July 3, 2012.
"The Amazing Spider-Man" is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance – leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

The last movies had spidey sticking to walls because he had shit growing out of his skin, and yet his rubbery suit didn't prevent him from clinging to the side of buildings. And in the comics, there's never been anything (that I can remember) preventing him from sticking to stuff. I even remember a panel where he was sticking to the ceiling from his head!
I have low expectations for this movie, but not because of this.

they made a point of showing that the little spider hairs could go through his suit in the previous series.

When he's climbing walls without his suit on in the comics, his shoes are always around his neck (at least last I read a Spider-Man comic)

It's been a decade since the first of the Tobey Maguire movies, and five years since the last one. But yeah, it's way too early to reboot something. Just take the James Bond method and keep replacing the actors. We don't need to see you re-do the origin story every time you want to do it.

it's definitely too early for a reboot of the whole thing, but in another way it still needed something fresh....I didn't want there to be no Spidey films altogether though,so they should of just stuck Andrew Garfield in Spider-Man 4,I am sure people wouldn't of minded because of Tobey Maguire,Sam Raimi and Kirsten Dunst were all out by their own choice anyway I am looking forward to see what that kid can bring to the franchise EDIT:yeah what 'grim' says

I would have rather they let their rights expire and let Marvel take it back. I have to wonder if Marvel gave Sony the rights without some clause allowing them to take them back if they wanted too.

oddly enough that is more accurate though. as long as Sony keeps the movies going and the license in use, they retain the rights. this is exactly why we have another movie coming out. if they lapse, marvel gets it back.
this is also why fox is rebooting the fantastic four.

If this is trailer #2 where is trailer #1? i thought it must of been the teaser where they made it look like Mirrors Edge I did like the look of the trailer, some things in it look like they are going over old ground with Flash being the school bully, which is probably the main complaint it being a reboot instead of Spidey 4 that we have gone over Still not sure on Andrew Garfield though..maybe i would rather have this Spider-Man Garfield* *goes to show if you put it in google you will find the image for anything,LOL

I wonder if Raimi sees this reboot as a slap in the face in any way. I know they weren't going to get Raimi or McGuire back into the franchise after the third film, but you'd think they'd avoid another origin story for the same character. What can they possibly add to it?

seen as though Raimi is involved with The Evil Dead remake/reboot/whatever....screw him but i am concerned about what they can add as well,i quite liked the School Scenes in the first Spidey film
