I've never seen any of this series, it looks very good if not a bit heavy on the blood and gore. One of the scenes in the trailer looked to be depicting a bloodied young girl being shackled though, and honeslty such scenes would kill my desire to watch it. Not that I'm not aware that such brutality was common in the empire in Spartacus' time, but I don't necessarily want to watch it on my screen. Maybe I saw that scene wrong, but are such things common in this series?

I've watched the entire first season 3 times now. I love it. Couldn't get into the prequel. Not sure about the new season but willing to give it a try. Any Whitfield (RIP) made the show though I wish the new guy good luck. |

Man, I will definitely miss Andy in the show.  Still, I'll watch. I actually enjoyed the follow up miniseries even if it wasn't as good as the first season. I just hope they keep up with equal measures of political intrigue and violence/sex. While the latter is great for a quick thrill, the former keeps the show interesting. |

I think Ill give the miniseries another shot before the new one starts. Batiatus came off as so much more incredibly annoying in it I struggled to finish the first episode. |

I liked Batiatus in the miniseries. He was a petulant child at the start of the run because that's what he was. As the show went on, he grew into the man the he would become in the first season.

I don't think so. Any streaming deals between Netflix and Starz officially ends in February. Starz is planning a streaming service themselves along the lines of HBO to Go. |

If it's anything like HBO to Go then you'll need a regular subscription to HBO. (Which means you'll need Cable or Satallite.) I dropped DirecTV about 2 years ago and now just use a combination of Netflix, Jetflicks, and Hulu.
Saw no reason spending $100+ on a directv bill for only 2 or 3 shows I like.
If Starz doesn't want their stuff on Netflix, then they should offer online subscriptions of their own when many people are leaving cable behind. Closing the doors on so many people seems like it's only going to encourage people to download it for free, since they have no way to pay for it.
At least Jetflicks will still carry Spartacus, even if it is only for mobile devices. (Though if you have an HDMI port on your phone you can always stream to your TV.)

It's not the same without Badiatus (Jupiter's cock give it a rest if I spelled his name wrong!) while not bad for the first episode.. I just didn't get hooked like I did with the first season and the prequel.
Was decent enough to see Xena back from the dead. Hopefully she kills the blonde woman who left her and Badiatus to die.
The prequel was good enough that I watched the whole thing on Jetflicks on my phone and enjoyed it immensly.
I'm actually more looking forward to The Vampire Diaries this week than I am spartacus!

Ok, I am caught up on the series now.  I am not sure if it is because of Andy's replacement. (hard to think of him as a bad ass when all he has done is killed a few guards, while the "old spartacs was killing 6 on 1, theocales, etc. Maybe it is because they cannot really do gladiator battles now. It is still OK, but the new season (so far) is not in the same league as blood and sand/ Gods of the arena. |

Gannicus' appearance just seemed forced and I'm glad to see him go. It came across as a meaningless way to tie the last series to this one. It also took time away from the real fun of the season for me, which is watching the new Batiatus of the show, Glaber, and his rise in power. I'm also really liking the Ashur sub plot, which goes hand in hand with Glaber's story. I'm a sucker for political intrigue and dirty politics in my shows.

Sure we'll see Gannicus again.
Season 1 was all about the gladiator combat, season 2 is Spartacus out of the arena and slowly building up a rebellion against the Romans. If they go too fast (and stick to historical accuracy) it'll be over in no time and there won't be a season 3 or beyond.
Occasional slave attacks (such as their recent attacks on the mines and arena) and a lot more roman politics and action can give this show a lot of life yet.
