My wife and I watched it this afternoon. I was offended. Well, ok, nothing really offends me, but I could see how various groups could be offended. East Asians, Muslims, Americans, celebrities, MATT DAMON! Hehe. The puppetry worked. I did catch a glimpse of puppet penis.   Some notes...

The songs were awesome. "America! Fuck yea!" Kim Jong's "I'm Lonely" song was suprising sad. The Montage song was cool, too.

My wife and I thought the Jong puppet was really cute. I want one.

What was even more disturbing was the gratuitous puppet puke. That was over the top.

While the satire scewered Conservaties more than the left, it didn't seem to imply they were more wrong.

The previews were boring, for once. While I have never read the Lemony Snicket books, the movie at least looks interesting, with Jim Carey actually given a Peter-Sellers-esque chance to shine.

I saw it today.  The best part of the movie, by far, was the Cairo stuff at the beginning.  I felt like I was going to barf after the puking scene.  Otherwise, the rip-off of RENT was funny (though I felt bad laughing about it) and the puppet sex was silly but funny.

Overall, it is an utter waste of money.  But it's a good utter waste of money.  It entertained me.  It really shouldn't offend anybody because, well, it offends everybody.  It's hard to think of a group it doesn't offend.  I thought that the brown haired girl was going to turn out to be a lesbian.

Just got back from seeing it.

Movie had some great moments but it really pushed a few of the jokes too far to the point where it stopped being funny (like the whole 5,234 miles west of america).

Some things I really did love though
The Pearl Harbor song
The montage song
Matt Damon
Star Wars references
Dicks, Pussies and Assholes (well at least the first time I heard it)

This movie was perfect for me and my friends. It's not for everybody though (candidate for understatement of the year).

You're watching the movie, laughing, having a good time, and then all of a sudden you scream "HOLY SHIT, THEY'RE USING PUPPETS, I FORGOT!!"

There are so many great parts to the movie:

Still pictures of the Gary puppet in Washington DC,

the "leopards"

"let's make this interesting."

If you like South Park then you need to see this. If you don't...stay far away, you will die a little inside.

Saw it last night. Was entertained, there was some funny stuff in there. Thought it did an even handy job of making fun of everyone. Dicks, pussies and assholes bit is probably the best political analogy I have heard in a while.

I really enjoyed it.  I kinda figured they were going to milk the puke scene (knowing South Park humor), but it had me laughing hard.  Loved the "leopards," the montage song (they nailed that "Take it to the Limit" sound), the Pearl Harbor song, the terrible plastic surgery on the Gary puppet, the signal he's supposed to give if the jig is up (hilarious).

The politics to me seemed like they parodied the "Hollywood Left" to the point of caricature, so it seemed less offensive than it would have been otherwise to them.  I mean, having their avatars talk about the importance of non-violence when they're dousing our heroes with gasoline in order to burn them to death--deliciously ironic, but a little obvious.

After all is said and done, I like the South Park movie better, but this is definitely worth a second watching when it comes out on DVD.
