Is there something about soju that makes it give me worse hangovers than anything else I drink, even when I don't enough that it would cause even a mild hangover if I had been drinking anything else?

Bleeaaaaaahhhhhh. thumbsdown

Was it a diluted soju or distilled soju...the later could have very high alcohol content, thus the hangover!  Or you are allergic to rice.

Like any alcohol, it all depends on the distillation.

The bottle said 20.something%, so it wasn't unusually potent.  And this always happens every time I drink it.

(The restaurant only had that, really sweet wine, or beer, and I wasn't in the mood for beer. icon_wink)

It's a Korean/Japanese (they both claim it as theirs) cross between Sake and vodka.

It goes nicely with jaepchae, table-barbecued bulgogi and shrimp, and an array of side dishes.

So in American parlance it's "an ass-kicker".

When I drank, which was a while ago, it made a world of difference when the temperature of the drink was off.  Vodka especially.  If it was too warm, I got a headache.  If it was practically frozen I got a headache.
