So I just got back from our ultrasound. I'm going to have a boy. Everything looks good, baby seems fine, so yeah! I'm excited!

Congrats. For me, raising my boy has been the most rewarding, frustrating, hilarious, sad, and crazy years of my life so far. And he's only 8 years old.
The only thing that bugs me the most is that I have to constantly remind myself I am his father, and not his friend.

I have a niece and nephew in their teens now, both great kids. I would only warn what my brother and some friends who are dads with boys say, is if you raised a daughter first, you didn't have to worry about them, um, eliminating waste from the front side.  Be careful when changing the diapers... I think I needed to change my nephew's diapers just once when he was little and I was babysitting, and thankfully my niece could speak enough at that point to "talk me through it."  It's a favorite memory of mine, it felt like a scene from "Three Men and a Baby." |
