My office building in Dallas (north Dallas specifically) just shut down and sent everyone home out of fear of the ice storm currently hitting the metroplex. Our GT readers to the north will no doubt scoff at such tomfoolery, but it's nice to not have anything to do for the day.

They've been predicting ice since midnight but it hasn't hit yet. First we were supposed to get an inch of ice now it's down to 1/4". After that 6-8" of snow. It does look like the snow will get here this afternoon. We've gotten 5" of rain but so far the temp has been above freezing.

Kevin and Ron, you guys are bastards. (3pm today, the supposed 6-12 inches of snowfall is supposed to begin. And I will probably by working late tonight as our annual physical inventory is tomorrow. )

I'd love to move more North but my wife really likes warm weather so that's pretty much a no go. Snow I'm more ambivalent on. It's been a while since I've had a job where I would likely get to take off work for snow days so it ends up becoming a nuisance.

Snow day? Hell, I want to know when the warm weather will come back. Last night I had to turn on the heat. Heat. And this morning I wore a jacket to work. This is just all kinds of wrong. Saturday I leave for Philly for a few days. Today's temperature: 67 degrees. On Monday night for the Eagles/Panthers game, which I will be attending: 30.

Just cold and rain here. No ice. Stupid being 2 hours south of WBS.
Not that Wal-Mart would close ANYWAY, and I need the money.

The university cancelled classes this afternoon. I was shocked. Even with the weather being horrible I don't think the whole campus has been closed down for quite a while.

Last day? Wha happened? My job went away. I was campaign staff, and the campaign was over (clean sweep! woo-hoo!). I got a three-week extension to run an analysis of the election results (determination: we got more votes), and now I'm out of the ranks of the gainfully employed. Not for too long, I imagine. I've had two interviews this week, one tomorrow and one in Austin on Monday. I expect to have a job by next Tuesday, thought it may not start until January.

The west coast - BC, Washington - has just been getting spanked with snow lately. And no one know what the hell to do with it. Drivers are idiots, we don't really have snow plows, people are affraid to walk in the slush. It's comical madness.

There's still no word on work being cancelled. I'm considered calling in sick, because I can't get to the train station on my bike in this weather, nor do I want to imagine myself getting back safely after work.
EDIT: Obviously, I WANT to imagine myself coming home safe, but... I don't see it happening. Fuck it, Medeival 2 needs some loving attention.

Yeah, me neither coop. Unfortunately, I'm one of those soul who absolutely cannot drive worth a flip in ice compared to My Fair Lady who's a dynamo. I would imagine the roads will be fine by 10 a.m. but I'm still debating whether or not to even bother going in today as all my work for the week was finished by Wednesday. Kind of like Ed, if I'm going to kill a day then I want to do so on my terms.

It has been incredibly WINDY here today. Multiple trees have blown over due just to the sheer amount of wind. This is very uncommon for rural WV....

Actually in the 10 years I lived in Phoenix, we had snow twice :icon_eek: It flaked, and one time stayed as a small layer on the ground for a couple of hours. I have it on video - since it was such a freakish thing.

Well I wish we had snow days. In all honesty I had trouble openning my front door to get my newspaper this morning.
We have been getting about 1 to 5 inches of snow everday for the past 2 weeks, you could skate down the roads with ease, due to the ice and yet we all drive around or i mean slide around still. The medians in between the roads are stacked so high with snow, you cant see the cars driving on the other side. Is that good?
I work outside for my job and its minus(negative) -42 with the wind shield. You know its cold out when you can only see your eyes and you have on the best winter gear made, and you still feel like your getting nerve damage(because you are.)
By the way I live in Central Canada, so that basically explains everything. It's not that I dont enjoy it, don't get me wrong I like being able to perform Fast and Furious drifts around corners at high speeds, I just dont like the fact that some days my car doesnt start or I cant find it, because it happens to be white as well.
So I salute you.

Hey, when I spoke to your wife on Thursday, I told her you were welcome to come and stay at my place that night, since I was so close. But she wasn't sure if you would have your cell phone on you, which is why I didn't call you directly. So
