My God, I need to go get a Q-Tip...

My God, I need to go get a Q-Tip... For the love of God, don't, you'll only piss it off. Your ear spider has been silent up to this point, don't let it know you're onto it.

Would you rather have an earwig in your ear or a spider that spins webs in your inner ear canal?

Would you rather have an earwig in your ear or a spider that spins webs in your inner ear canal? There is only one solution to this quandry: suicide. Oh, and I just finished eating dinner while I went off to find out what an earwig is. Ugh. It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't have those spines on its ass.

They don't have earwigs in Georgia? Man, moving south is sounding better and better. I can't stand those things, ever since I had one trying to crawl up my chest to get to my ear.

I can handle all kinds of things people are not happy with (snakes, lizards, fish guts, earwigs, etc.)... but a spider in my ear? ugghhh! I'm with Stiffler on this one - if you can't chop off your ear, you'd have to chop off your head! we don't even say the whole word in our household. we say "spuh" because the whole word might make one appear. For the love of God, don't, you'll only piss it off. Your ear spider has been silent up to this point, don't let it know you're onto it. Szgany, very, very funny!

We might have them, but I remain blissfully ignorant to their existence. The south isn't really that bad. I actually know more people from the north than native Georgians (and I always point out that I am a Yankee). The one thing that absolutely kills me is the heat. Man, it gets HOT. Throw in buckets of humidity and I am NOT looking forard to another summer. Mytocles, I've finally figured something out. I am scared of ANYTHING with more than four legs. The more legs, the more afraid I am. I'm not particularly scared of snakes, but the s-word makes my skin crawl. Which of course makes me thing they are crawling on me. If I catch sight of a nasty bugger, even on TV, I am frozen in my seat. Eventually I must resign to the fact that I will soon be devoured before I can move again. "The name earwig is derived from a European superstition that these insects enter the ears of a sleeping person and bore into the brain." I think I've seen that episode of Star Trek.

Gah!!
I'd rather live in a haunted house than have a freakin' spider living in my ear. Good thing I sleep with earplugs to keep out any nasties.

I remember when I lived in New Orleans, one night I was sleeping peacefully in bed when I awoke and something was trying to get into my ear. In my groggy sleepiness all I could think of was some kind of big armored spider as I swatted it off me and pounded on it on the bed. Then I turned on the light. There was this big cockroach(about two inches long) laying in my bed. Scared the living crap out of me that night!

Yeah, when I was really young (less than 5) and we were living in Texas, a cockroach did crawl in my ear. The doctors froze it and when they tried to take it out, it broke. Somehow they must have gotten the pieces out though. Dirty South, ugh!

My ears are feeling strange right now. I didn't know what earwigs were until I just looked them up on yahoo and wow, I used to catch those things as a kid and feed them to my ant colonies. I'm in Florida and they're definitely out here. Seen them in the house as well, though not lately.
Why do they call them earwigs anyway?
