I wasn't exactly impressed with the Spiderman movies.  Hopefully, this works out well.

The first two were decent. The special effects and action were awesome, the story average, and the acting average to below average. The less said about the third movie the better.

Raimi can do a decent job with the material. And there are some interesting stories worth telling in the Warcraft universe. It's generic fantasy, but there's not a lot of quality generic fantasy movies out there.

Seeing a gnome on screen will be cool if they do it live action.

Other way around- Raimi produced 30 Days of Night and he wrote and directed Drag Me to Hell.

The original Mortal Kombat and Death Race were both awesome popcorn flicks. Hell - Death Race was the perfect example of a 'leave your brain at the door yet enjoy the heck out of our near constant action scenes' movie, unlike Transformers.

Resident Evil x 2, Event Horizon which is bloody brilliant and Aliens Vs Predator...as for DOA, well, the GF and I saw the trailer, and laughed really hard at it...so, thats why we gotta see it

I think there's a good chance that this movie will be decent. I'll disagree with others here who think Raimi's first 2 Spiderman movies were poor. As well, his movie A Simple Plan was excellent - IMO 1 of the best thrillers made in the 90's. I think if this movie falls flat it won't be as a result of the direction, as much as the script writing.

The problem I see with a WoW movie is that you'll have to spend nearly the entire movie getting people onboard with the fiction (they won't assume that you know anything about it - they'll spoon-feed it to you) and it'll be tough to get into any sort of actual content.  Lord of the Rings, we kinda get it and they still took a month of Sundays to explain a great deal of the lore.

Yup. That's why most epic stories are told in the trilogy format nowadays. As long as they end the first movie with enough world and character development, folks would flock to the next and the next.

Duncan Jones is a talented director on the rise. Have you all seen 'Moon'? 'Source Code' was also quite decent. I think this movie is still in capable hands.
