Hey, guess what? We've been living in the future all along. Also, Skynet.

A Time reporter was talking to a telemarketer about life insurance and noticed something was a little off. Then he started asking questions. Friends in his office started calling the telemarketer, too.

Finally, they grilled her on whether or not she was a robot.

And it got creepy.

Wow that's crazy, that's a really good program to be able to respond as well as it does. Imagine what this stuff will be like ten years from now. Scary if you ask me.

OK, that's funny I got a charity call a little while ago and the guy's voice sounded like a recording so I interrupted him and asked him if he was a recording. He said that he wasn't and we went on with the conversation. If I recall he did said some things that made me think it was a real person but now I'm really curious!

Maybe CeeKay really is a bot.

We've had these for a couple of years.  They even introduce themselves by name, and if you talk over their spiel they'll stop and say "I'm sorry, did you say something?" or it'll play a chuckle if it determines you're talking gibberish, then it says, "My job today is really just to verify your info for [spam]. Blah blah blah".
If they have a fast enough processor it can easily fool a person, just through a carefully crafted yes/no script.

Yes, Teggy, they are fairly convincing.  It will tell you it's name if asked - often "Steve".

If he is, it must be crappy game AI. Have you seen him play anything?

You know after listening to that audio I really don't see any reason why Ceekay isn't highly likely to be a bot. His responses are usually short and too the point, often times with an inflection of a laugh, usually followed up by some sort of animated smiley. All things a good bot program could do. Add in the frequency of his posts and it's really the only logical conclusion. Plus he loves to talk about living in Ohio, would a real human constantly remind you of that?

Ceekay do you find yourself wondering how we humans can stand all the swishing and swooshing going on in our bodies?

I'd believe the first was just a coincidence but the repeated lines about "can you hear me okay?" give it away.  yeah, damn creepy.
