Even though the line was scripted, and the mission partly done for political reasons, he remains the first of humankind to set foot on alien terrain. He and his crew expanded the realm of what is possible for all mankind. I can only hope that we continue to look forward at what's still left to do, and what needs to be transitioned from impossible to possible.
Requiescat in Pace, Neil.

Just noticed that the moon is just about half mast tonight, which is poetic.
I also pointed out the moon to my 2-year-old daughter, who gave her usual "Hi moon!" I then told her that a man named Neil once went up to the moon, and she said "Hi Neil, bye Neil!"

Even though the line was scripted, and the mission partly done for political reasons,
The moon landing was the culmination of herculean efforts by thousands of people. Most of the mission was orchestrated by mission control and automation. Throughout most of the space program the astronauts were derided as "spam in a can," more payload than pilots. But when it came right down to it, those last few hundred meters depended on Neil Armstrong's judgment, skill, and nerve. He held center stage in one of America's defining moments. For all its faults -- Vietnam, race riots, and talk of revolution in the air -- the USA was the country that put men on the moon. It reminded us in a dark time that we were a great nation.

I'd like to think that somewhere, Buzz Aldrin is looking up and the moon and whispering, "This is for you, Neil," while punching out a moon-landing denier.

To be buried at SeaI know everyone would of liked his ashes to be scattered on the moon when we go back,(with no Atmosphere, would that mean his ashes would of pretty much stayed on the moon as well where they would be placed?),but i suppose these are the families wishes Hell,if it were up to me i would of saved his ashes for the next Mars Rover, and placed his ashes there so that he could of been the first to be on the Moon and Mars
