The Gentle Giant is resting far too soon frown

Wow. When I first read that, I was thought he can't be too old, really? 54. Exactly the opposite.

Yeah, I didn't realize he was that old, but in his case one has to also wonder if it is potential complications from steroid use.

Damn, this sucks. He wasn't exactly an actor I thought would pass away early. What's also sad is that he's a very unique actor in both looks and voice, so losing him means we lose certain types of roles in future movies.

crybaby I was looking forward to seeing him in new movies - a new Daredevil perhaps ... he was a fantastic Kingpin.

Browsing through his imdb page, he's done a LOT of voicework.

Rest well, big guy. You made quite a mark.

I think he meant to write "telling an anecdote".   icon_wink

...that or he believes Tom Hanks is selling snake oils at various celebrity funerals now.

AMC has been heavy-rotating The Green Mile for obvious reasons.

My mom had never seen it. So you know how long the movie is. It makes Darabont's The Shawshank Redemption seem almost short by comparison.

She saw like the last half of the movie one night, and then the first half another night.

I had a heck of a time trying to explain the movie...

"Yeah, the big African-American dude sucks the ... uh... magical evil flies out of sick people. And when he touches someone else he sort of ... uh... sees what they're all about.

And he likes musicals and... uh.... no, he really fixes Tom Hanks' character's bladder infection and that woman's brain tumor by.... uh.... you know sucking out the evil magical flies....

No he didn't kill the girls in the beginning. He saw that they were dead and was trying to use his powers but you... uh... can't suck out evil flies if someone's already dead...."

I love the movie but man, it's a tough movie to explain.  icon_smile The funny thing is, even though I love most of Stephen King's stuff I could not get into the serially-released Green Mile. I remember buying the first couple "mini books" in the series, and I just couldn't grasp the story at all.

Yeah i couldn't get into the book as a serial either after buying the first few,i have been meaning to pick it up as a full novel which was released later on

As for you saying about The Green Mile being shown a lot recently,I have noticed it here with Comedy Central showing the MCD Two and a Half Men episodes a lot,he only appeared in two episodes i think but they have been repeated nearly every day since his death

I'm fine with the tribute broadcasts.  It's so rare these days to find an actor that was viewed almost universally as a good role model for kids as well as an all around decent guy.  throwing the spotlight on them when they pass seems like the right thing to do.

...when a Kardashian kicks it, I'm hoping they don't even mention it on the news.

When I die, I expect Ron Burke to create a script that continues making "Blackjack posts."

Who knows? Perhaps I'm already dead, and these posts are just some bunch of code trying to emulate me. Such a... pathetic programing goal.  icon_lol

Which one? Oh wait, it doesn't matter....

As for MCD, yeah - he seemed to be a man greater than his physical stature, and I don't mind hearing about him for a while.
