AMC has been heavy-rotating The Green Mile for obvious reasons.
My mom had never seen it. So you know how long the movie is. It makes Darabont's The Shawshank Redemption seem almost short by comparison.
She saw like the last half of the movie one night, and then the first half another night.
I had a heck of a time trying to explain the movie...
"Yeah, the big African-American dude sucks the ... uh... magical evil flies out of sick people. And when he touches someone else he sort of ... uh... sees what they're all about.
And he likes musicals and... uh.... no, he really fixes Tom Hanks' character's bladder infection and that woman's brain tumor by.... uh.... you know sucking out the evil magical flies....
No he didn't kill the girls in the beginning. He saw that they were dead and was trying to use his powers but you... uh... can't suck out evil flies if someone's already dead...."
I love the movie but man, it's a tough movie to explain.

The funny thing is, even though I love most of Stephen King's stuff I could not get into the serially-released Green Mile. I remember buying the first couple "mini books" in the series, and I just couldn't grasp the story at all.
