I wonder how much of that 27.7 million will be due to the jacked up 3D ticket prices?

I've eventually see this, but not at the theater despite it being 3D. I've found the previous 3 watchable as B-rate Sci-Fi movies, but I'll probably have the same problem with this that I had with the others - the stories have little or nothing to do with the video games and they're plots are inferior to those in the video games. I can see renting this like the other 3, but I can't see wasting $ on the high price of seeing it in 3D at the theater.

These movies are a guilty pleasure of mine.
Well actually i went to see the first one expecting it to be complete and utter crap and was surprised by how watchable it was. But the 2nd and 3rd one are pure guilty pleasures.
I've been on vacation for awhile and so wasn't able to see this opening weekend - but plan on seeing it sometime next week after I get back.

Sweet! I absolutely loved Afterlife, saw it in IMAX 3D to boot. Yes it's a guilty pleasure, but it's definitely a fun and pleasurable guilty pleasure. The opening 10 minutes alone were worth watching the whole thing IMHO. That and another intermediate fight sequence involving a very wet Milla and Ali Larter. Effects were great, very derivative of The Matrix but who cares! Zombies, guns, quarters, and did I mention Milla and Ali?

Saw it the other night with a buddy, who jarringly observed that a woman will apparently still carefully apply make-up when she thinks she's the last woman on earth, or an amnesiac. My own best MST3kism was less subtle: "Where's Hiroki?" "He split." It was fun identifying various RE5 influences, but they sure did a half-assed job of explaining Wesker (my RE5 ignorant pal had no idea WTF he was about). Having played RE5, I was waiting for "Oh noes, a locked beach access gate!! We have to go back and find the KEY, as we lack climbing abilities of any sort!!" or going through hell to get power to an elevator... that goes up 10 feet.

in anticipation of hopefully seeing this over the weekend or at the very latest next weekend I just grabbed the blu ray trilogy off of Amazon, where it's on sale.

Now that it's out on Bluray, picked this up and watched it last night. It was pretty much exactly what I expecting from an RE movie but really wasn't aware that they were going to draw so much from the RE5 game, something they talk about in the extras. Funny, I saw "Jill Valentine" in the credits and was wondering where the heck she was in the movie and how I missed her, when that little extra bit of film popped up in the middle of them with some darn blonde woman. I had to google around to find out that was Valentine and I might have picked up on that if I'd ever played the last game. It's still in my rather copious backlog. [sigh] And you can buy all four now in a swell little case... that or wait for the inevitable 5 case seeing as how this movie doesn't so much end as just... stop.

finally got around to watching this, not bad but they overdid the slow motion stunts, and the ending seemed like they were daring the studio by saying 'go ahead, don't let us make another one'.

This movie takes over the worst movie of all time crown from GI-JOE. It's awful in every way.

It's not saying much, but I thought it was better than 2.

I tried to warn you! I mean, it was fun, but the silly level just reached new heights. I just loved that the entire movie is predicated on Alice losing all of her powers, yet walking away without a scratch (a little soot on her face and clothes perhaps) from an airplane smashing into the side of a mountain. I'll still see #5 when I get a chance (I actually waited until it was on USA this time). The fight scenes are fun, as are the manner they find some excuse to squeeze in enemies from the latest edition of the video game. Like, all the enemies are regular zombies except for the tentacles that come out of their mouths, and there just happens to be this giant hooded guy with a monster axe walking around.
