So much was lost that will never be recovered.  And while the new home is wonderful (and better in many ways - i.e. the forum works consistently!), there are still many things that I wish we still had access to.  So my idea is to rebuild the GoneGold Collective Brain Trust.  Post in this thread the cool things, ideas, lists, images, links, etc. that you remember or have saved from GG.  Think of it as one-stop-shopping for your former GG resources.

Item 1: For example, I was trying to think of the link for the The English-to-12-Year-Old-AOLer Translator.  Well I found it: link

Item 2: One time I asked for a recommendation on good books on World War II.  I ended up with a lot of recommendations.  I'll list them below in order of how many times they were recommended:

Recommended by four people
A Bridge Too Far by Ryan
An Army at Dawn by Atkinson

Recommended by three people
The Second World War by Keegan
Company Commander by MacDonald
Goodbye, Darkness: A Memoir of the Pacific War
Stalingrad by Beevor

Recommended by two people
The Forgotten Soldier by Sajer
D-Day by Ambrose
With the Old Breed: At Peleliu and Okinawa
Flags of Our Fathers
The Fall of Berlin 1945 by Beevor

Recommended by one person
No Ordinary Time
Churchill: A Life by Gilbert
The Glory and the Dream by Manchester
Blood Red Snow by Koschorrek
Rommel’s War in Africa by Heckmann
The First and the Last by Gallant
God, Honor, Fatherland
Band of Brothers by Ambrose
Foot Soldier by Blunt
Interrogations: The Nazi Elite in Allied Hands, 1945
Flyboys
Wings of Morning
Pegasus Bridge by Ambrose
Citizen Soldiers by Ambrose
When Trumpets Fade by MacDonald
In Deadly Combat by Bidermann
Thunderbolt by Johnson
The Last 100 Days by Toland
Rising Sun by Toland
Ghost Soldiers by Sides

Item 3: My favorite "I'd hit it" photo is...

I would kill for the 5 page thread about fantasy novel recomendations.  I'm finally almost done with the 10 books I picked up on recomendations from there, and need something new to read. frown

Which one?  There was a new one started about every 5 weeks!

And yes, I do miss those.  I'm reading Robin Hobb because of a recommendation from GG.

I do believe that I have one of the fantasy book threads saved as a word file.  Let me know if you want it.

Yeah but 4.5 pages of those threads were recommendations for Song of Ice and Fire over and over again smile

Sweet, can you e-mail that to me please?  I'm going to need to take a look at it in a week or so.
